I knew I wanted to teach by the third grade. I went into teaching right after high school and graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education four years later. I eventually acquired a Masters in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College. I've taught grades K-6 as a full time classroom teacher in Michigan, Arkansas, and Texas. I've taught online to Ohio and two different countries. I worked as a math specialist for two years of my career. I've also worked as a scorer for standardized tests in math and writing. I opened my own daycare and tutoring services (Mrs. Teacher's Tutoring Lab) while raising my own little one. Therefore, I've been involved in all aspects of education and enjoyed every bit of it. I've developed a lot of skills over the years to close learning gaps, enhance the high achiever, and help the average student reach new goals; so that all can have a pleasant and interesting learning experience. I'm looking forward to working with you.

We have all had horrible teachers and outstanding teachers. I believe that I am the latter. Over the years as a math tutor and instructor I have learned to be very patient and understanding. Allowing students to communicate their needs to an instructor is very important. But it is also very important that the instructor understands exactly what students need. I allow students to try problems on their own with the use of notes, textbooks, and/or online research first. This allows me to see what exactly they need assistance with. I want students to understand that it is okay to make mistakes because them making a mistake helps me to help better understand a math concept. I believe that my enthusiasm comes naturally because I enjoy teaching Math. This enthusiasm and energy helps to motivate students to do well and to also enjoy math. I also motivate my students by setting high expectations for them. Before any tutoring session begins I explain to them what is expected of them and what I will do to help them meet their expectations and goals. People ask me what makes me most proud. It is not my grades, exam scores, degree, or any personal accomplishment but it is the growth of my students that makes me most proud. I feel that I have completed my job with each struggling student when they are understanding the material better are doing better in math. I also enjoy seeing them be more confident about math.
I am a graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, where I completed my Ph.D. program in Physics. I was doing research in physics for many years, but it always comes a time when you feel you must pass your knowledge to other people, especially those of new generation. So, I started teaching and tutoring then. Originally I was teaching Conceptual, Algebra-Based and Calculus-Based Physics courses at different colleges and universities. Yet, while teaching these courses, I was also unofficially "tutoring" the students during my office hours when they were coming with their concerns and confusions. Officially, my tutoring started in January 2017, when I was offered to tutor at Science Learning Center of Stark State College in North Canton, Ohio. One thing I like in tutoring is the opportunity to work with students individually and use personal approaches to direct them to the success in their studies, rather than teaching an "average student" standing at a whiteboard or a projector screen. I am tutoring College, University and AP Physics courses, also I am able to tutor algebra/trigonometry and calculus. Rather that just giving the students the equations to solve the desired problems, I prefer to make the students work themselves, concentrating myself in directing them whenever it is necessary and explaining the subtle points of the confusing material studied. During the tests the students are left with their task alone with no help form anyone, and my goal is to make them able to deal with such tasks successfully.
I have over 20 years experience as a state-certified Spanish, French, German, and ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher. I am a skilled instructor who teaches effectively. In addition, I offer students quality lessons and help them reach their learning goals.
I am a graduate of Wayne State University and a current student at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health Honors with a minor in Chemistry in 2021. Throughout my undergrad, I partook in opportunities to teach others, from leading a youth program on civic engagement to training community members on first aid and how to respond to an overdose emergency. I am passionate about writing, art, the sciences, and medicine, though I can tutor various subjects and age groups! I am particularly passionate in aiding children to build their foundation in their core studies and adult learners in their road to higher education. I can aid struggling students to achieve MCAT scores they are proud of, especially in the CARS and Sociology/Psychology sections. I also have experience aiding students of various levels in their professional and academic writing and speaking. Notably, I have evaluated students' college application essays and am serving on my medical school's admissions team. I firmly believe every student has potential to succeed, and am honored to be a part of that journey. In my spare time, I enjoy painting, reading, and spending time with family and friends!
The word, "education" is a mid-16th century term that has two different Latin roots: educare, which means to train or mold, and educere, meaning to lead or draw out. The former entails rote memorization, perfecting a trade, and becoming a productive laborer. The American educational system has widely adopted this ethos, especially in regards to children of the working class. Educere - necessitating critical thinking, inquisitiveness, and innovation - has by and large been factored out of the equation. Consequently, American scholarship and ingenuity has suffered. As an educator, I aspire to revive the spirit of educere for the children of the working class, drawing out every child's vast potential.I have accumulated years of successful experience as an educator in one form or another at all levels. To start, I was a tutor in my local community center throughout my time in high school. I tutored all K-12 grade levels, despite them sometimes being older than me! Moreover, I served a semester of student-teaching in a high school, teaching freshman Algebra and Pre-Calculus. This led to a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics/Biology Teacher Education from Wayne State University. Lastly, I worked as a middle school math and biology instructor for seventh grade students. I can tutor essentially all math subject areas, though Algebra is my specialty and personal favorite. I have successfully implemented Singapore math in my Algebra classroom, a teaching strategy that has proven to be very effective at that level of mathematics. With my expertise in my content areas, extensive training and successful implementation, and passion for education, I am well-equipped to help you reach your academic aspirations.
I am a secondary education teacher with a certification in Biology and Chemistry. I also completed my Masters in the Arts of Teaching degree at Wayne State University. I have a great passion for teaching and motivating students of all abilities to help them succeed in school and reach their full potential.
I am a graduate of Southern University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana (B.A. Spanish) and Wayne State University (M.A. Teaching Foreign Language). I have been with Detroit Public School since 1992. In high school, I struggled with Spanish all four years and when I applied to college I challenged myself to give Spanish just one shot. Spanish finally clicked for me and I have never looked back. That experience allows my students and tutoring clients to relate to me.My career as a Spanish teacher began in 1994 at a local area high school and I have demonstrated my teaching ability to many students and adults including preschoolers within my church to police officers in my community. My interest beyond the classroom setting include traveling abroad, collecting Barbie dolls and cooking and entertaining guests. I also am an avid world news watcher..My tutoring strategies are to establish a great rapport with the student, assess his/her learning style, give students opportunity to ask as many questions he or she needs, build their confidence as a language student and be an overall support system for the student. My teaching philosophy toward language is that language is a unique and important part of our culture and each child has a unique approach to language acquisition.
A little bit of information about me.I find computer programming/development to be a very enjoyable occupation. There is something about putting the code together to create an application or a website that is very satisfying. Getting to see the results of the work that was done is very exciting.I obtained my Bachelors of Science degree in IT in May 2014 with courses in C programming, HTML, XML, CSS, Javascript, computer security, web design, graphic design, Adobe In Design and Adobe Illustrator. In May of 2017 I obtained my Master of Science degree in IT with courses in programming, computer security, operating systems, cloud computing and security in the cloud which was my area of specialization. Areas that I gained experience in through work were the Java programming language and Python, along with Microsoft Teams, Word and Excel, and Adobe Photo shop. One of the aspects of teaching, or tutoring a programming language that I like is passing on my enjoyment of writing programs and the excitement of learning how to code. When I have taught classes I try to encourage the students to explore what they can do with the language they are learning How to use it to accomplish their task or objective while also gaining an understanding of how it works. One of the best ways to learn coding of course is to use it to create something. When teaching in a group setting I try to encourage students to work together to solve problems. If one student is having some difficulties at a certain point or the code doesn't seem to be working as it should, I like to encourage everyone to contribute to solving the problem. This teaches them to work together, the same as they would if they were working on a project for a business, and to solve problems that can be encountered in coding. It's always great when a student is able to solve a problem in a program.Writing programs can take work and dedication, but it can also be fun. I try to create an atmosphere where the student feels good about what they can accomplish while having fun learning how to code.

I attended the University of Detroit Mercy where I gained a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I have also recently graduated with a Masters of Basic Medical Sciences from Wayne State University. As you may be able to tell, I have had a passion for science, especially biology, for many years. My academic journey has given me an immense amount of experience with a wide range of subjects and tests. I know very intimately what it is like to be under pressure to perform well in school and on tests and therefore can relate to students under similar circumstances. I have had the opportunity to tutor many people in a wide range of ages and academic abilities in the past.I tutor a wide range of subjects but am most passionate about Math, Science, Reading, Writing, and Test Preparation. I believe the first and most vital step in working with a student is to identify specifically where he or she is struggling. Every student is different and deserves a teaching method that is tailored to them. I believe students learn best when they are guided along through discussion and hands-on methods as opposed to when they are lectured to; I also believe learning can and should be fun! When it comes to preparing for tests, I believe that what you know is only a small part of the puzzle; perfecting test-taking skills is equally important. I have taken many standardized tests throughout my life, and have been able to do well by understanding the tests and utilizing these skills. When I have spare time, I enjoy staying active by playing basketball and exercising. I also enjoy reading, sports, music and traveling. I look forward to helping you find your full potential on the road to success.
