Hi! I am Emily Jacko. I received my BA from Washington & Jefferson College and I am currently in an MFA program at Chatham University. I am studying pedagogy and creative writing. I am passionate about learning and teaching as well!Named Top 10 Best of Tutors.com in 2020.

I am a graduate of Washington & Jefferson College, from where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, and I am working towards receiving a Doctor in Physical Therapy. During my time at W&J, I completed a semester Study Abroad program at the University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain, where I studied intensely the Spanish language, history, and the culture. I have a passion for the Spanish language, which manifests in my membership in Sigma Delta Pi Spanish Honor Society, and in my tutoring Spanish for W&J College's Peer Assisted Learning Program. I am passionate for tutoring Spanish because I believe that learning language gives a better understanding of all aspects of life and opens doors to many more opportunities. Outside of academia, I enjoy traveling, sports, reading, and volunteering.

I recently received my Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and German from Washington and Jefferson College. While completing my degree, I worked at the local elementary school's after school program. The program was aimed at helping the students improve their math, reading, and social skills. During the fall semester of my Junior year I studied abroad in Vienna, Austria. My four months there were absolutely incredible! It was a phenomenal opportunity for me to improve my skills in German and explore the beautiful continent of Europe. In my spare time, I love to craft! I particularly enjoy scrapbooking and knitting. I also love to bake and travel.

I am an educator at heart and I enjoy watching students reach their goals both academically and personally.Learning something new can be fun with the right material, interest, and excitement.

Im very passionate teaching students how to properly vibe code while still maintaining all the tenants of an engineer that does not rely on outsourcing everything to AI tools.

I have obtained my B.A. in Environmental Studies and International Relations from Washington & Jefferson College in 2011 and in 2014, I received my M.Sc in Environmental Studies from Point Park University. Upon graduating in 2011, I began working with The Student Conservation Association and a few other environmental nonprofits as an environmental educator. I am especially passionate about sustainability and environmental justice.As an avid traveler, in 2015, I decided to move abroad to Istanbul, Turkey where I began teaching English as a Second language at Ibn Haldun University. While my role was to teach English, I was fortunate enough to be able to create a speciality course and after school club with the students that were interested in the environment to share my passion with them.My tutoring and teaching style tends to change based on the students needs, interests, and learning preferences. My main goal for each class is to spark interest in the topic and create an engaging and interactive lesson based on students' understanding and personal interests.

I graduated from Washington & Jefferson College with a Bachelor of Arts in both International Studies and French, with focuses on East Asian and European Studies. During my time at W&J, I had many extraordinary study abroad opportunities that supplied me with exceptional interpersonal skills with people from around the world. Additionally, these experiences further increased my interest in languages and traveling. After graduating, I decided that I wanted to continue exploring the world, so I studied to receive my TEFL certification (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) from ICAL TEFL Online. Having spent two years now teaching English in both Hong Kong (Lingnan University) and France (Lycee Andre Argouges), I am ready to bring my tutoring abilities back to the States, and help others with both the French language and culture. My love for French stemmed from studying it in school, and since then it had always been my dream to live there and experience life in France; I hope I can share the same excitement for the language to future students.Thanks to teaching various groups of students, I've learned how to find different means to teach them in a way that they would understand. I try my hardest to make my lessons as dynamic and helpful as possible, because I find it extremely important for students to find the subject interesting, that way it will increase their desire to learn.Outside of tutoring, I am currently working on my Masters to hopefully work in the realm of global public health.
