It came as no surprise to my family and friends that I chose to major in history in college. As an undergraduate, I attended Ohio State University and completed my degree at Otterbein College, a small liberal arts school in Columbus, Ohio. Not content to simply read about history and the great works of literature, I pursued my M.A. and Ph.D in American history at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, where I learned to create my own stories about the past.Now that I have completed my Ph.D., I finally get to focus my attention on sharing my passion for storytelling with others. I like to work with students of all ages. I have taught courses at the college level, and I've worked with high school students as well. I have two younger brothers in middle school, so I feel especially attuned to the psyche of that age group. In order to finish my degree in history, I wrote a 400 page dissertation and completed a field of study in English. At the University of Miami, I have been involved in a club that travels to a local church and simply helps students with homework trouble they may be having.
