I am a graduate of Michigan State University, where I studied Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Humanities. I am currently enrolled at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, where I study Development Economics and International Monetary Policy. I have worked as a Teaching Assistant, Research Assistant, and as an Actuary, and have a particular passion for teaching Mathematics. When tutoring I try to include visualizations and real world examples whenever I can so that it does not feel like a fruitless exercise. I help students reach their goals with a two-pronged approach: reinforcing and building upon strengths while targeting weaknesses. In my free time I exercise, play the piano and volunteer with the Jewish Vocational Service.

I am a first-year medical student at Hofstra University in Long Island, NY. I received my Bachelor or Science in Biopsychology from Tufts in 2022. I have focused on teaching and tutoring throughout middle school, high school, and college, and have worked with students of all ages. I believe deeply in teaching that not only focuses on academic content, but also empowers students with the tools and strategies they need to be successful learners in the long-term.
I'm a recent graduate of Tufts University who just completed an internship with the speechwriting company West Wing Writers. I'd love to help you with writing assignments, test preparation, and any classes in the humanities!
My name is Alex and I am a current law school student. I have years of experience working with young people, from preschoolers to high school students, in educational settings. I was a first-generation, low-income college student, and I understand how important a strong support system is to achieving academic success. I approach tutoring with empathy and aim to meet students at their level to ensure that they leave tutoring sessions feeling like they achieved something.
I am a graduate of The College of the Holy Cross where I double majored in English and Music. I am also a graduate of Tufts University where I earned a Master's of Arts in Ethnomusicology. Recently, I became certified to teach English through the Connecticut State Department of Education. As early as college I began tutoring. I have tutored in Math, Music, English as a Second Language, Reading, and Writing. I have tutored while living on both coasts as well as while living in South America. I love working one-on-one with students, meeting the challenges of discovering what strategies work best with each student. I regularly use Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences as a touchstone for the work I do with students, incorporating visual, musical, and kinesthetic strategies into my teaching. I love watching my students learn, develop, and grow both as students and as individuals. My goal is to build the confidence and skills each student needs to become a successful independent and lifelong learner. To continue my own learning, I am an avid reader and an extensive traveler; my most recent trips include Italy and South Africa. I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, painting, music, and soccer.
I did my undergraduate and doctoral training in Boston, at Wellesley College and Tufts University respectively. I have a BA in Latin American Studies and a PhD in Food Policy and Applied Nutrition. My mother tongue is Spanish; I am also fluent in Italian; and have extensive advanced fluency in French and German. I picked up my language skills while working and traveling to over 65 countries. My extensive linguistics knowledge coupled with my teaching experience allows me to help students struggling with learning Spanish; or writing college essays, term papers, dissertations or articles for publication; or organization skills to improve academic performance. Because of my varied travel experience I find it easy to adjust to students experiences and learning gaps in order to show them how to utilize the knowledge they already have and build on that knowledge in order to attain greater skills.

Tutoring is much more individualized than larger classes. Each student can receive help based on their individual needs, making learning faster and more efficient. Accounting for each student's personal strengths and weaknesses makes tutoring far more personalized, fulfilling, and enjoyable. Standardized tests and science courses are my strong suit since those are areas where I have extensive research experience and can explain concepts clearly.I am a current Tufts undergraduate science major with experience teaching K-12 students.
