I received my bachelor's in communications from the University of Maryland Global Campus while traveling the world as a military spouse. Traveling allowed me to experience different cultures and new ways of learning. I am currently working on two master's programs, one a degree in social work with the University of Texas at San Antonio. Where I maintain a 4.0 GPA after one year in program. The other is a master's in public health at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where I am in my first semester. Since I have experience in both on campus and a distance learning, I have an edge when it comes to the type of learning needed to succeed. My experience with students started as a middle schooler who was asked to tutor a Korean boy in English. Moving on from there, I tutored informally throughout high school and college. I currently work with other graduate students. I tutor in English, communications (including media and journalism), human resources, and English as a second language. When I am not working or working on schoolwork, I enjoy spending time with my three children and grandbaby, as well as my husband. We like to travel, both in Texas, around the country, and to other continents. I look forward to productive partnerships with future students.

One of my favorite things about teaching is getting students excited to learn with fun and engaging lessons. This enables them to be successful, to feel good about themselves, and to want to learn more. As a lifelong Spanish speaker who lived in Mexico for 5.5 years, I love teaching Spanish. I graduated with a BA in Drama from UT Austin, and received my MA in Educational Psychology and Counseling from UTSA. I am also certified to teach Drama and Spanish, have taught both subjects, and have tutored children and adults in Spanish.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Concentration in Neurobiology from the University of Texas at San Antonio. During my final years as an undergraduate, I worked as a supplemental instructor in a Biology course for Non-Bio Majors. After graduation, I attended Texas A&M College of Dentistry, where I tutored high schoolers and undergraduates who were preparing for the Reading Comprehension section of the Dental Admissions Test (DAT). I was honored with Tutor of the Year award by the students and faculty members of that cohort. I am passionate about learning and sharing the developing notions of what it means to be human. This is what led me to teach Anatomy & Physiology to high schoolers, where I was awarded New Teacher of the Year at the school. My philosophy is to learn through teaching, reflection and meditation. Outside of the classroom I teach mindful movement as a certified personal trainer and yoga instructor. I have been teaching Basic Writing and English classes for several years, along with Literature courses. My experience with tutoring comes from when I was a graduate student. I worked as a tutor for the Athletic department. As a tutor, I would work with those students that had missed class the day of the lessons they needed. I reviewed papers and assessed learning. As an instructor, I learned this to be valuable in the classroom. I often held workshops that would require students to exchange their papers with one another. This would help them learn how to catch the mistakes in their own papers as they often did not see it in their own work. I will walk through the writing process with each student, until they are satisfied with the end paper. As writers we know that the hardest part of Writing is starting. I will help you through this process. I love to write, I love to teach others, and I love people!
