I went to the University of Maryland, College Park as an undergraduate, and I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physics. I am now pursuing my Ph.D. in Physics at Temple University in Philadelphia! I am currently a teaching assistant at Temple teaching college students general physics I. I have been teaching for a while, and I really love it! I am always looking for ways to help my students better understand the material that they need help with. I also like to make it fun and enjoyable! I not only have a background in physics but math as well! I am great with numbers and always look forward to guiding students in their courses and love watching my students make progress. I teach many different subjects within physics and math, such as algebra, geometry, calculus (I, II, & III), AP physics, college physics, and much more! In my spare time, I like reading, exercising, listening to music, and dancing!

I have taught high school Biology and AP Biology full-time for a year at Fremont Christian School (Fremont, CA). I am a research scientist turned educator, who is certified to teach in Florida (Professional Educator Certification for Biology 6-12). I have a Masters in Biology from San Francisco State University and have successfully published my biodiversity research in an international science journal. I would enjoy tutoring biology and other middle and high school sciences because I want to encourage and inspire students to pursue science as a career. I love interacting with and building relationships with students, watching them grow, analyze and think critically about the natural world.I have taught college Introductory Biology for 2.5 years part-time at San Francisco State University, 1 year full-time in high school Biology and AP Biology, and a year teaching biology, chemistry, and environmental science. I also designed and taught a hands-on high school specialty course ''Glorious Design of Marine Invertebrates'' during January Term at Fremont Christian School.I have AP Biology and Biology resources available to teach both subjects and tons of science experience to integrate and share in my lessons. I have been teaching AP Biology online for three years and I own both the Barron's and Princeton Review Premium Prep AP Bio practice books.I am approved to tutor AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, College Biology, Earth Science, Ecology, Environmental Science, Graduate Level Biology, Life Sciences, Marine Biology, Science, and Zoology.I enjoy tutoring in any of the biological sciences best because I love how intricate biological systems are and I am in awe of them.My teaching philosophy is through hardwork and discipline any academic goal is achievable! The key to success is practice through writing, verbalizing the content, and teaching others. Application of knowledge is more important than mere regurgitation/memorization of information. I strive to get my students to think on a higher cognitive level. My tutoring style is geared towards getting my students to explain what they know and apply what they know through specific questioning. Teaching is a dialogue, not me lecturing.Outside of teaching and tutoring, I enjoy scrapbooking, birdwatching, Scuba diving, singing, research, and participating in my church.
Tutoring provides me the opportunity to work with students and connect with them in a manner that influences their enjoyment of a subject. My passion is science and math because it explains how the world works, how nature works, and how all the phenomenon around us work. I want all students to enjoy science and math, and understand how they impact us in our daily lives. As I watch the learning process unfold, I am able to watch those connections being made, and nothing brings me greater satisfaction than seeing that moment when a student has that clarity and feels empowered that they mastered something they thought they never could.I take a collaborative approach to teaching to ensure thorough understanding of the material, allowing students to also enjoy the learning process, and focus on pertinent applications of the material extending beyond the scope of a single assignment. I like to break concepts down into smaller, easy-to-manage parts, and then bring them back together once each part is mastered.I earned my Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and after 10 years as a police officer, decided to change careers to positively impact people through teaching. I will complete my Master's in Education at the end of the year. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my 4 children, and I am also interested in photography and reading. I have been tutoring science and math for the past year at the local community college.

In addition to that I also served as Senior Journalist in the "Press Division" of "The legislative Congress of Taiwan," and "A Senior Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy" for the "Fu-Xin-Gong University," Taiwan as well.English is a primary linguistic tool used to earn my Doctoral and second M.A. degree from Temple University, PA. My TOEFL score was 610 out of 650 in 1992. On top of that, I have been teaching college courses in the field of "Humanities' + "And Mandarin Chinese" since 1992. When I'm not working, you'll find me reading or at the gym.
I am currently taking classes at Temple University, majoring in middle school math and science education, and am expecting to graduate in the spring of 2016 with a Bachelor’s Degree in education. I tutor in almost any subject of mathematics and I am confident that I can help any student in this area. I am quite understanding and patient which helps me teach students who struggle or are easily frustrated with math. I am also confident in this area because of my ability to help students understand what steps they need to take or what techniques will be the most helpful to their own specific learning. My main goal for teaching is to help students develop problem solving and critical thinking skills. These are not only important for math but can be used in any subject and become increasingly important as students move on from school and into the working world. I also believe it is absolutely vital to create an environment in which students are comfortable asking questions, answering questions, and sharing their own ideas. I want my students to feel safe sharing ideas because this will facilitate the learning process and help reduce stress during teaching sessions. Finally, I believe strongly in the importance of learning from one's peers through social interactions. It is a great idea to practice problems and ideas with friends and classmates because you can see different ways to look at and solve problems.
Deborah A. Stallworth, DNP, FNP-BC, RN, CNE(C), CCRN, RRT, is a nurse practitioner working per diem while also pursuing a Ph.D. in Nursing. Passionate about combatting the health illiteracy and misinformation of people in underserved and marginalized communities, fueled by a determination to empower and make a difference when and where possible within the spheres of influence afforded, especially in nursing practice and academia.
To start, I am a mom and I love spending time with family and friends. I enjoy biking (bicycles), cooking new meals, scrap booking and going out to lunch or dinner with my friends. I also advocate for children who are not receiving the proper services in the school system. I am passionate about children receiving what they need to be successful from the school system. Academically, I have earned three master degrees over the years. One is in business and the other two are in the field of psychology; School Psychology and Educational Psychology. I have spent a number of years working in the public school system as a school psychologist. I thoroughly enjoy working with children to help them achieve a level of success with their academics. I like to use a multi-model approach to tutoring which includes your typical paper and pencil work, computer based learning tools, hands on strategies and discussion based learning. I believe for a student to remain engaged and active in their own learning they have to enjoy it to some degree. The teaching has to be interesting, engaging and have some level of fun tied to it. The teacher/tutor needs to know their student(s) and what their learning styles are in order to create the most effective strategies. I believe a reward system is very helpful for students who have a very low level of motivation to do their school work. It can be a very simple system which does not require spending lots of money, if any. I thoroughly enjoy working with children with special needs and various learning disabilities. My background is in the field of special education and I am well versed on a variety of interventions that prove successful with students. I have worked with students at all levels and have learned that a one's confidence level plays a large part in their success. When one feels confident about themselves and their ability to learn the material they seem to progress a bit quicker than those who struggle with self-confidence. I will help to build your child's self-confidence as they learn. It can be a fun experience and something your child looks forward to instead of dreading doing their school work. I look forward to working with you and your student(s).
High-Impact decision maker with 10+ years of experience and a background in legal management and compliance, defense of both Civil and Criminal government investigations, regulatory administration, and high stakes risk management and litigation.Teaching, learning, mentorship and growing is always on the forefront of my mind; I have dedicated 15 years of my life as an advocate on behalf of the disadvantaged and partly as an educator; as my journey progresses, although, I continue to have a passion for the law, I now look to instill my knowledge and experiences in adults and student by becoming a college level educator. It is my sincere desire to make a lasting impact on the young and more mature (older individuals), lol., that will not only transcend through the students that are entrusted to me but will also build a strong foundation that will last throughout their careers.I have tutored, mentored, and employed various law students for 10+ years.
I have spent the better part of fifteen years working inside higher education first as an admissions and enrollment professional across a range of institutions, from large R1 research universities to small private colleges and Hidden Ivy-caliber schools, and later as a consultant and strategic partner to colleges and universities navigating the increasingly complex world of student recruitment. That career arc has given me something I think is genuinely rare in college admissions coaching: I've sat on both sides of the table. I've worked across both undergraduate and graduate admissions including MBA programs shaped recruitment strategy, and worked with prospective students and families at some of the most consequential moments of their lives. I understand what admissions officers are actually looking for not as a theory, but as someone who has lived it. What I've found, in every role and at every institution, is that the students who stand out in the process are almost never the ones with the most impressive rsums. They're the ones who have learned to tell their story honestly and specifically who they are, how they think, and what they're reaching toward. That's a skill that can be taught, and it's one I'm passionate about developing in the students I work with. My approach to essay coaching is direct and collaborative. I ask hard questions. I push students past the safe, generic drafts toward something that actually sounds like them. And I bring to every session a genuine understanding of what's waiting on the other end of that application the reader, the committee, the decision because I've been in that room. I'm excited to bring this experience to Varsity Tutors and to the students who are ready to do the real work of finding their voice.
I am a CFA charter-holder and a graduate from a top Business School in the US. I have years of experience tutoring peers in finance related courses including corporate finance, behavioral finance, derivative instruments and alternative investment assets.I believe in connecting classroom or theoretical finance concepts and real world applications. In my experience once a student is helped to make this connection, they almost never forget the subject matter.Outside of academia, I love reading ( fiction and non-fiction), taking long walks to nowhere(the best way to think!) and working out.
In 2011 I graduated from Temple University with a Bachelors of Science in the field of Neuroscience. As an undergraduate, I became really active in research, more specifically; I started investigating the effects nicotine has on learning and memory. By the time I graduated from Temple I had helped publish two peer reviewed journal articles. Both articles were published in the journal of Behavioral Neuroscience. Upon graduation, I was given the opportunity to teach classes on the research process and research ethics to undergraduate students. I also held workshops for these students on how to write a proper resume and personal statement for graduate school. This was only a six-week position but in that time my students conducted research in a laboratory on campus and wrote up their findings in a scientific research paper. At the end of the summer they presented their research at a conference in Atlanta, Georgia. I found it very rewarding to help my students go through this process in such a short period of time. I moved to Portland in 2012 because I was admitted into the Behavioral Neuroscience PhD Program at Oregon Health & Science University. After a year in this program, I realized that I missed working with and mentoring students and I decided to leave the program and pursue a Masters in Academic Advising from Kansas State University. I am currently a few months away from completing my masters degree and I am still living in Portland, Oregon (my degree is being completed online). I am currently working as a classroom assistant for a blind student at Portland State University. I help this student in the classroom and I tutor him outside of the classroom as well. I really enjoy working for the disability resource center and am very passionate about helping ALL students succeed in their academic endeavors. I believe that students all learn differently and what really helps one student learn a concept may confuse a different student. As a tutor, I try to assess how my students learn best and work off of their learning style. I also believe in working off of students' strengths. For instance, if a student struggles with writing argumentative essays, I will start off by giving him or her an essay about a topic they are really passionate about. This way they can see that they can actually like the writing process. Once we establish that they can actually do the task I will ask them to write about something that they are not as familiar with or something that does not interest them as much. I think it is really important to not treat all students the same when it comes to teaching because everyone thinks differently! I tutor a wide assortment of subjects: Elementary/Middle school level math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, College level Statistics, Middle School/High School/College level English, college writing, ESL Writing/Grammar, Neuroscience/Psychology, and High School and Middle School science. I really enjoy teaching students about Psychology and the brain because I personally find it to be fascinating! I also love to help students with writing because I find it rewarding to see their progression over time. It makes me really happy when I see students' developing more complex arguments after just a few tutoring sessions. As far as my hobbies go, I am really interested in reading, writing, bowling, miniature golf, swimming and going to professional sporting events!
I am available for tutoring for USMLE Step 1 and 2 prep, as well as clinical and preclinical medical school subject tutoring. I have experience tutoring in both group and one-on-one settings. In medical school, I tutored anatomy in a group setting and individual subjects and USMLE exam preparation in a one-on-one setting. Prior to medical school, I tutored calculus in undergraduate. I received my undergraduate degree from Temple University, and am in my final term of medical school at Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. I scored a 253 and 251 on my step 1 and 2 exams, and was elected to junior AOA. I love helping students achieve their academic goals, and look forward to the opportunity to work with you!
Hello! I am here to help :) I am one of those few folks who thinks Math is fun. I see math problems as puzzles that can be solved, we just have to do more thinking than with a typical puzzle. I am most confident with Algebra 1 & 2 and Geometry, so if you find yourself struggling in those areas, I could be of some assistance.I am a 20 year old Architecture student at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. I take interest in all types of design and art. I, myself, am a visual learner; I understand the struggle of not being able to grasp content simply because you just cannot see it. I hope for my artistic background to be of helpful use for students who need that visual component.I am very patient and encouraging. I believe in you so that you can build the confidence to believe in yourself!
I believe that anyone can be great at anything they do they just need the right amount of preparation, the methods of learning that work best for them and the right amount of drive to succeed.
As a member of the Honors Society, I am well versed in a variety of subjects and have tutored in both Math, Science, and Writing.I want to discover what's the best way YOU learn, and use it to improve your skills in the desired subject area.As a Temple University graduate with a degree in Media Studies & Production, I have a variety of skills that I have obtained from previous experiences and educational backgrounds. Eastern University can be accredited for showing me the wonders in teaching. After receiving my Master of Education degree I started teaching in an urban city's public school system. I currently teach fifth grade where the students excite me with their wit and enthusiasm. I look forward to working with students because I learn just as much them as they do from me. That's my philosophy of education: students and educators coexist as learning partners. The learning is reciprocated on both ends. Students are given the necessary tools to make inquiries and then apply different learning methods to give solutions to their own inquiries.
I began tutoring as a part of City Year Philadelphia in the 2014-2015 school year. During this year I worked with 6th grade students in math, reading, science, social studies, and art, and fell in love with education. I am currently attending Temple University for Art Education, Art History, and Community Arts. I have been working in educational roles for the past 2 and a half years.Despite a strong interest in studio art, I also have strong academic interests. I love reading about history, language, and current events.

Over the last few years I have had the pleasure of tutoring some of the most athletically talented students at Temple University. The best part of the job has always been the teammate like relationship we form when setting academic goals together and then reaching them for the student using tools tailored to the student's study style and needs.
I am currently a fourth year Bio Engineering student at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA with a focus on neural engineering. I have extensive tutoring experience in Mathematics and other subjects, tutoring children and High school students. I love to make math fun and engaging, and am good at simplifying complex ideas so that they are easier to understand and master.
I believe that learning programming as a practical skill is both fun and important as I do so in my free time. While my past experience is primary with younger students I find that if one is not capable of teaching what they've learned, they have not learned it well enough. I find myself giving lectures on game design and development concepts to any listening ear. I am currently working towards a Computer Science degree at Temple University as an Honors student. I can tutor programming, game design as well and have experience in making music for games. I can tutor high school programming. I am also able to tutor the SAT where my stronger suit would be math. I believe that anyone can do excellent in a subject with sufficient, and efficient practice.
Hi I'm Christine, a chill academic punk originally from the Pacific Northwest. I came to Philly 4 years ago to experience a brand new scene, one I'd only heard was rough around the edges but filled with soul. Since then I've fallen in love with the city and hope to embody the genuine and organically fiery spirit instilled in the people here. Wherever I am though I'll always retain the subdued spirit of the forests, mountains, and water of the Pacific Northwest.
Hi, I am a senior at Temple University majoring in Actuarial Science. I love math and helping others learn math has always been a passion of mine!Outside of tutoring, I love listening to music, going to the gym and hanging out with friends when possible.

As the first in my family to attend college, and then the only member to pursue graduate education, I know just how transformative my educational experiences have been. Such has encouraged me to enable the transformation of others via my mentoring, tutoring, and public speaking engagements.
I am student at Temple University in Philadelphia. I am currently studying finance, and am aiming towards a BBA. I have experience working with students in the past. I would tutor underclassmen ay my high school. I mainly taught them mathematics subjects, such as algebra and geometry. Most maths are my favorite subjects to tutor. Math is such an essential subject to understand, and I am here to help students understand that! Every student learns differently; at different paces and adjust better to different methods. My tutoring style is to tend more towards the student and figure out what works best for them. Outside of academia, I am a fencer! I started fencing since my junior year of high school, and have been doing it ever since. I also love to play billiards. My friends and I play very often.
In May, 2015, I graduate from Temple University with a BA in English, completing a degree program begun in 1968. Since I returned to Temple a year ago, I have maintained a straight-A average in all courses. Furthermore, I am honored to receive Temple's Florence Duckworth Award for excellence in scholarship and leadership in English studies. This past year at Temple has been one of the most rewarding and delightful years of my life.Since 2009 I have been a trained volunteer tutor in Adult Basic English (ABE) and English as a Second Language (ESL) sponsored by Delaware County Literacy Council (DCLC). For ABE I have helped adult students with low-level literacy learn to read and write. For ESL I have helped adult legal immigrants master the language of their adopted country, the USA. I love this work so much that I left a successful career in investment accounting in order to complete my degree and teach English to adults. As part of an internship at Temple I am currently teaching an ESL evening class of six students at DCLC until July, 2015.As one can tell from my years of study, I am grounded in the old-fashioned instruction of English grammar and composition. This contributes to my tutoring success because I understand the basics that support a platform of literacy: elements such as the ABCs, sensible but flexible grammar, coherent sentence structure and functional parts of speech. My recent studies at Temple provided the latest research and theory in rhetoric, linguistics and the newest forms of digital literacy. Moreover, my recent experiences in the classroom provided bonding with college-age people in a peer relationship. I connect with the younger generation in special ways that were unavailable to me a year ago. As a result of my experience, I'm quite comfortable in both worlds of the English language: essential fundamentals and the new digital age.My writing skills are strong, as my Duckworth award attests. My first love is American and English literature. I'm a voracious readerso much so that I haven't owned or watched TV in decades. After all, I figure, why watch TV if I can read a book instead?

From the track to the classroom, the boardroom to the community, I have always been driven by one thing: the pursuit of potential. As a teacher and mentor, I find purpose in guiding others to discover their strengths and chart their own paths to success. And as a lifelong learner, I never stop asking questions, seeking growth, and challenging myself to be better than I was yesterday. I believe that true success isn't measured just by personal achievements but by the lives we touch along the way. Teaching and learning have been important pursuits in my life for over twenty years. I believe strongly in the rewards and benefits of lifelong learning. I put this principle into practice by successfully completing a PhD in modern European history and by participating in educational pastimes, such as serving as a volunteer with my local historical societies. As a teacher I encourage and support the academic goals of all curious or hesitant learners. Pupils who begin to work with me can expect to enjoy their courses of study and to develop a love of learning. Whether working with students in elementary school or with college undergraduates, I always strive to make learning dynamic, vibrant and welcoming. My aim is to ensure that all students develop a confident mastery and an appreciation of their subject. Students will become eager to learn and they will carry this value with them throughout their academic life.
I teach theatre and creativity at Temple University, Rowan University, and Stockton University. As a mentor of creative artists and scholars, I love helping students to develop skills and practices that allow them to communicate and organize their ideas in the strongest, most effective ways.So many intelligent students haven't mastered the techniques required for academic writing. It's something that all instructors in higher education struggle with. Fortunately, anyone can learn how to take ideas and sculpt them into a compelling, concise, and elegant paper. As someone who grades dozens of essays every week, I'm excited to help you develop writing abilities that will help you in virtually all of your academic coursework.Need help with that college application essay? I would love to sit down with you and not only make sure that your submission is error-free, but also give you ideas for generating creative content that expresses your unique story in a way that will catch the eye of your target institution. My passion is helping students learn to create, to generate solid and perhaps groundbreaking work. Regardless of your field, the ability to communicate your ideas will free you to maximize your potential.
I am a soon-to-be graduate of Temple University. In May I will receive a Bachelor of Arts in History with on American history and imperialism. During my senior year of high school, I traveled to the Navajo Nation in Arizona to tutor Navajo children and assist teachers in running an after-school program for troubled children. While studying at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. before transferring to Temple, I helped instruct elementary and middle school-aged children as a member of Kid Power Inc. after-school program. My past experience also includes tutoring high school and college students my age in history and critical writing, including the AP U.S. History exam and IB History exams. I am the most passionate about History but I also tutor students in English, Literature, and Critical Writing. In helping students study history, I focus on analyzing primary source documents and getting students engaged by focusing on events, people, and narratives in which they are most interested. It is my firm belief that education is about helping students realize their own capacity for continuous growth and learning, not simply imparting information. As the old saying goes, if the student is not better than the teacher, the teacher has failed. In my spare time, I enjoy reading fiction as well as books about history, watching old films, strategic board games such as Risk, listening to music, and playing guitar.
