I am a teacher at heart. I see my goal as to bring out the wisdom found within each of my students. I believe in you. It is important to me that you feel safe and have a positive experience. For several years I was the Remedial Reading specialist for the Utica school district. I have worked with students from grade school to high school.

There is a science and art of teaching, it is my philosophy and how I have taught for 55 years. I am student centered. My role is to explain how subjects, e.g. measurement, observation, math, psychology, physics and composition, (both visual, written), are connected, and that this connectivity will aid a student to adapt to their world. I am the teacher, a guide, to steer creative thinkers to employ their unique voice, in a safe, relaxed environment.
A #2 pencil and a dream can take you everywhere.I have very good understanding of the subjects that I tutor, as proved by my academic records. I also have a great passion for teaching. I've been a calculus facilitator at Syracuse University for two years in my undergraduate study, which can be described as an "alternative TA." My experience also includes one semester one-on-one tutoring with a college electrical engineering student. I love teaching and I love helping students out. When I heard back from my students saying: "This makes much more sense now.", I feel eternally happy for them from my heart.
I recently graduated with a 3.6 GPA from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, which is regarded as arguably the top communications program in the country. This comes after graduating from North Hunterdon High School with a 3.8 GPA and a 2140 composite SAT score. My best subject on the SAT was math, although I also scored highly on both the reading comprehension and writing sections. I also took the LSAT this year, scoring a 168 (96th percentile), which I actually found frustrating because it was lower than every single one of my practice tests (with my personal best being a 174). Because of this, I learned from my mistakes and am able to tutor both the subject matter of the LSAT as well as how to prepare for the test. I will be attending Vanderbilt Law School on a majority scholarship in the Fall. I have plenty of experience both in school and teaching friends and classmates material, as I tutored in college as well. I am a very friendly and outgoing person who likes to have fun, but also knows when to work and how to do so efficiently. I'm very excited aboutand grateful forthis opportunity to help others learn.
I graduated from Syracuse University with a B.S. in Biotechnology, and currently working towards my Masters at New York University. As a current student, I understand various learning strategies and the different study techniques. I have extensive tutoring experience, serving as a tutor in Biology, General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. In these sessions, I will use real life examples to make science fun and enjoyable! Ultimately, my goal as a tutor is to ensure the success of the student, whether it is prepping for a High School Regents examination or assisting in a laboratory report. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy exercising, cooking, swimming and exploring the streets of New York City!
I am a recent graduate of University of Michigan - Ann Arbor's Master's of Science program, where I studied Aerospace Engineering. I have three years of college level tutoring experience from my time as an Academic Excellence Workshop (AEW) Facilitator during my undergraduate career at Syracuse University. As an AEW facilitator I was responsible for leading a group of students (6-8 similar to a small recitation session) to master course material, while helping them develop their problem solving, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills. I often met with professors to discuss student progress and prepare tutoring session material. Furthermore, I held weekly office hours and lead review sessions throughout the semester to help students with upcoming tests. Courses I have tutored in range from Calculus and Physics to early Engineering courses such as Statics and Dynamics. In addition to my tutoring experience, I am capable of helping student with computer programming languages including Matlab and Python. I enjoy seeing students learn and grow and challenging them to overcome problems they initially considered difficult. On my free time, I enjoy listening to music, watching movies and podcasts, or playing soccer with friends. In addition, I am fluent in Spanish, and a beginner in French.
I obtained my Master's of Science in Microelectronics Photonics from the University of Arkansas and my Bachelor's of Science in Chemical Engineering from Syracuse University. During my Master's studies, I worked as a chemistry teaching assistant and discovered my passion for STEM education. I continued to work with students after my teaching requirement ended by becoming a chemistry tutor and research mentor. I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering, where I balance my desire to modernize water treatment systems with my love of inspiring students to pursue careers in STEM. My tutoring style emphasizes the learning process as much as the technical content to form a foundation for lifelong learning and problem solving. Together, we will logically break down complex problems into smaller, more manageable pieces. I specialize in introductory university-level Chemistry and Math courses, including AP Chemistry and Calculus. When I'm not tutoring, you will find me cooking a new recipe, hiking in the Ozark Mountains, or cheering loudly for my favorite basketball teams.
I am a retired teacher who has a love for working with students. I consider my ability to be able to take complicated information and make it user friendly.

I am passionate about teaching because I find immense joy in witnessing students develop their skills and discover their potential. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy exploring different cultures through travel and languages, which enriches my teaching and connects me further with my students.
I am a graduate from Syracuse University with a Master's degree in Spanish Language, Literature and Culture. During my time at Syracuse University I gained some valuable teaching experience as an Instructor of Spanish 101, 102, 201, 202, 211, 212 for undergraduate students; teaching one grammar (4 credits) and one conversation (1 credit) course per semester independently, with the guidance of the Spanish Language coordinator. I enjoy teaching and am considered to have a caring approach; my tutoring style is very clear and as a foreign language learner myself, I understand better my students' difficulties and I care about my students' best interest. I rely upon many activities that involve a total physical response by the students: develop the five language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing, and culture) and which prepares students to communicate effectively in both written and spoken Spanish on a variety of topics related to themselves, their personal experiences, and everyday situations one might encounter in a Spanish speaking environment. In my spare time, I enjoy any kind of outdoors activities, specially hiking and backpackingand of course, traveling!
I recently graduated from Columbia University where I excelled in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Organic Chemistry. For over a year, I have tutored college and high school students in these subjects. I learned that every student learns differently, so I try to utilize creativity in my teaching approaches. My goal is to steer each student to that “ah-ha” moment so that they truly understand the material.I am currently in the process of applying to medical school, which I plan to start in August 2015. In addition, I like to bike, play the drums, ski, and watch football for fun.
My name is Kara and I received my M.S. in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University and my M.D. from New York Medical College. I enjoy helping students out with most science topics, from high school Biology courses to preparing for the ACT, SAT, or MCAT. This includes Biology, Psychology, Anatomy, Physiology, and more. I work with students to develop effective study methods that work best for the ways in which they learn. The key is to not only learn information, but to retain it. I also enjoy working with young students who may need help with reading, writing, science, and pre-algebra. My tutoring sessions will give students the practice and understanding needed to excel in their coursework. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy playing tennis, cooking, catching up on new TV shows, and spending time with my family!
Educating students has been my passion, originally inspired many years ago by a warm and caring English teacher. I wanted to become just like her, so that's what I did! If you would like to know some personal information , I am originally from upstate New York with 3 adult children, plus 5 more whom we have raised over the years. 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson are also happy additions to our family. Should I also mention our cute little pets? Those are a dog and 2 cats. For me, the reward in teaching is knowing that I am helping students with skills and understanding that will lead to success in life. The best job in the world is having the opportunity to tutor motivated students who want to learn!

Provide students with a resource to allow them to ask questions and learn from the answers given. Show students a way to solve a problem rather than solving the problem and just giving an answer. In this way the student can learn the technique and use this to solve problems of a similar nature.

I am a cum laude graduate of Syracuse University, where I received my undergraduate degree and Western New England University, where I received for Juris Doctor in law. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in two majors; English and Public Policy. In addition, I am a member of the New York State Bar and I exclusively practice immigration law in New Jersey. Besides helping my clients to understand their legal rights, I am passionate about helping children learn and improve upon their reading, writing and presentation skills. As the mother of two teenagers, I continuously help my children to develop these skills. In addition, because of my training as an attorney, I understand how to craft essays and arguments in a persuasive manner. I have also delivered webinars, seminars and community presentations to groups large and small. All these experiences have been so much fun-I love engaging people to learn and ask questions. Most importantly, I am patient and encouraging with my students so as to create a positive learning experience.and I look to create a positvie lea. as I am playing attorney by day.I am passionate about Since graduation, I have traveled extensively, tutoring children of immigrants in California for the "No Child Left Behind" program; adults in Manhattan looking to improve their English (as I am a certified ESL instructor); and private clients in the Veneto region of Italy. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, and History. In my experience helping struggling students prepare for Standardized Tests, we always seem to have the most fun (with remarkable advancements) prepping for the Critical Reading and Writing portions of the exams. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading that which enriches my life, yoga, running, and the odd game of ice hockey.

I break skills into smaller parts, utilize examples, and practice together, always with positive, confidence-building feedback. Whether the student needs homework support, catching up on foundations, or extra challenge, I tailor sessions to their goals and learning style so progress feels doable. I have been a math teacher in grades 7-12 for the past 11 years; I've taught students with all different backgrounds and abilities. It's fun to see how different everyone thinks and I enjoy finding methods that "click" with students. I look forward to learning alongside you!
I'm excited to work with kids to expand their knowledge and love of learning. I found that I derived a great deal of self-confidence and self-esteem through my own academic achievements, and want to help others achieve that boost in their lives, no matter whether they are in elementary school or preparing for college. Soon to receive a double major in Drama (Stage Management) and Psychology from Syracuse University, my wide range of interests and achievements have enabled me to certify to tutor in a wide range of subjects including English, Writing, Music, and Psychology.

My passion in helping students stems from the fact that I was once one myself, and not a very good one. College was a door to a new opportunity of learning. As soon as I became a college freshman, I saw a different world opening before my eyes. Today, I work with many diverse students in different scenarios: Pre-K to college level; foreign students needing to learn English for careers as well as scholastically; and SAT and ACT preparation for students seeking to get into college. The one thing that's common in these various scenarios is my passion to help students that are apprehensive to learn because they don't know what to do, and teach them how to break down a situation and discover for themselves how to study, learn, and find out to derive the answer for themselves. My Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Syracuse University and my Master's certificate in TEFL/TESOL from Learning Tutoring were not easy to obtain, However, that goal was worth it as they prepare me each day to to teach, interesting, diverse students, and assist them in achieving their educational goals. In addition to proven teaching experience, I have 30+ years' work experience in three different industries--banking, advertising, and hospitality. Since I am teach for a variety of accredited institutions composed of students of many ages and from diverse cultures and backgrounds, my subjects include, but are not limited to: English (verbal, written and phonics), literature, essay writing, SAT and ACT English and math, history, science, filmmaking (award winning filmmaker), acting (union actor--SAG, AEA), 2D animation, drawing, painting, and Adobe Creative Suite. My favorite subject to teach is English--phonics, verbal, reading, and literature. My teaching style is hands-on. I just don't stand or sit there and lecture. Lectures are boring. As my resume and other documents state, I have 30 years experience as a union actor in good standing. Much of this acting experience has been in improvisation and role playing. I bring a lot of role playing activities into my class, especially when I am teaching foreign adults who need to know English for their jobs/or if the relocated to the U.S. My lessons are based on the students themselves. They're tailored to student individual needs. We do a student scenario, say applying for a graduate degree scholarship. If they are employed in an English speaking environment, we might do something where they are interviewing for a promotion. My philosophy is all about the 'individual student's needs,' whether I am teaching a class of six students or one-on-one. Outside of the class, I am interested in kayaking, filmmaking, and writing scripts and plays.
I am a 3D Layout/Previs Artist, currently pursuing Character Animation through Animation Mentor. I received my BFA from Syracuse University in 2020, majoring in Computer Art and Animation. I have extensive knowledge of all parts of the animation pipeline, as well as managing production workflow. I have served as head of layout on several short films and worked on the previsualization for a feature film. I am extremely passionate about animation and the creative industry, and excited to share my knowledge with artistic students. My previous work has given me a unique understanding of the animation field and content development aspects of this industry. I am prepared to collaborate with my students, teach them to think creatively and critically, and work towards achieving successful and satisfactory projects.
I'm a 27 year-old graduate of Syracuse University with a B.S. in Information Management & Technology, and a minor in Private Music Study. After graduating, I worked as a Technology Consulting in Financial Services for a large audit firm in New York City, before moving to the Copenhagen branch for one year. While available to assist with a broad range of subjects, I especially enjoy assisting students with mathematics, physics, and English. I like to focus on building a strong foundation with the core concepts that students may be struggling with, in order to ensure they have the tools to continue their learning on to more difficult topics, or just to be able to handle any problem thrown at them involving the basic topics. Tutoring students part-time is not only a job, but I find it one of the more worth-while uses of one's time, to be able to foster an environment where students learn to think critically and analyze the situation at hand, so that they can apply these various skills and practices for the rest of their lives.
The Montessori philosophy, "individual, freedom within limits," is the teaching style that I adopt. Especially when teaching world languages, it is very hard to frame all students in the same box since each student's learning style is different.Knowing and observing a student's strengths and personally designing the teaching method based on each student's or parent's expectation is my goal.
Hello. I am a Spanish professor with Austin Community College. I've taught Spanish at the middle school through college level for the last 15 years and I have plenty of tutoring experience.Having learned Spanish as a second language I understand a student's struggle learning the language. Students have told me I am patient and calm as a teacher. Since I have taught young people and older students I feel I have a good understanding of how to present a given concept to a specific student. I am well aware that some younger learners struggle with attention span. For this reason I use fun activities and age appropriate materials. In the past I have tutored businessmen and women who had specific goals for a trip to a Spanish speaking country. I feel comfortable teaching both adults and children. As far as materials I have plenty to offer. I designed my own language learning website that covers the grammar learned in Spanish I and II.I look forward to working with anyone who needs help with Spanish. I am punctual and professional while still keeping a relaxed attitude with my students. If you are looking for a teacher with those qualities I'd love to work with you.

I'm also comfortable integrating technology into lessons, whether that means using online tools, graphing calculators, or collaborative platforms that make learning more engaging. I specialize in: Middle School Math (Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry) High School Math (Algebra II, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB/BC) College Math (Calculus I-III, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Probability & Statistics) Test Prep (SAT Math, ACT Math, GRE Quantitative Reasoning) What I love most about tutoring is witnessing that "aha!" moment when a concept finally clicks for a student. I've seen countless students transform from saying "I'm just not a math person" to confidently tackling challenging problems and even developing a genuine appreciation for mathematics. My goal isn't just to help students pass their next testit's to equip them with problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and the confidence that will serve them throughout their academic and professional lives. Whether you're looking to catch up, get ahead, or simply build confidence in math, I'm here to support your learning journey with patience, expertise, and encouragement.
