During my time as a mechanical engineering student at Rowan University, I greatly enjoyed my five semesters as a teacher's assistant for both Introductory Mechanics and Physics 1. Many of the students I tutored had difficulty following along with the professors' lectures and I found I had a knack for simplifying the content and applying the concepts to real world situations. One of the most rewarding parts of the job was seeing the students have that "aha" moment, knowing I was making a positive difference in their learning experience and providing a strong foundation for the rest of their academic journey.

I am a recent graduate of West Virginia University earning my PhD. in chemical engineering. My research included using polymer with complex functional groups to create complex bio-medical composite materials by directing the self-assembly process of inorganic nanoparticles. I have tutored privately for both clients and friends in the fields of Math, Chemistry and Physics since high school. I offer a fresh take on the demands on students today being a recent graduate. I believe in understanding the core concepts of math and science problems in order for students to be able to solve a variety of problems on the subject.
I just graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rowan University with a B.S. in Mathematics, minor in Computer Science, and a concentration in Applied Math. At Rowan I was president of our math team and volunteer tutored three hours each week while also tutoring high school students on the side. In the fall I will be attending Rutgers University in pursuit of a PhD in Applied Math. I have also done math research for the last two years which resulted in one published paper (with two more on the way), talks, conferences, and an REU at The Institute for Computational and Experimental Mathematics at Brown University last summer. What I am trying to say is that I love math. I love doing it, talking about it, and teaching others about it.
I began my undergraduate career at Drexel University and I am proud to say I finished at Rowan University. During my time at Drexel I was fortunate enough to participate in the Maryanoff Fellowship program with a focus on nanotechnology research. My goal was annealing silver nanoparticles into nanowires. My focus then shifted to organic chemistry education utilizing first person shooter video game software. I always had an eye for being an educator, even in my undergraduate days. I then pursued a graduate degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. I was voted class vice president and was introduced to my first leadership role in an academic setting. I had a wonderful time at PCOM including doing an internship at the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office. Here I assisted as an intern medico-legal death investigator (AKA CSI) and participated during autopsies. I have been teaching at Rowan University for the past six semesters. I began with one course Essentials of General Chemistry, then Essentials and Organic Laboratory I, and now I am teaching both Chemistry II Lecture and Laboratory this semester.

I graduated from Rowan University earning a B.S. in Biochemistry and a minor in Spanish. I'm currently a first year medical student. I've completed extensive coursework in many advanced science and math courses, as well as being proficient in both conversational and written Spanish. I've also taken the MCAT not long ago and am able to share strategies that helped me succeed. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about biochemistry and standardized test preparation. I'm dedicated to helping students build confidence and truly understand the material they are learning, not just memorize it. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading, baking, and spending time outdoors.
I love working with students and helping them overcome their "mathphobia". It's easy to get lost in long processes, and I enjoy being able to help students understand those processes and build up their own confidence in math. I have been a math and special education teacher for high school and middle school students for the past four years.
Hi! It's nice to meet you. Prior to becoming a Varsity tutor, I studied Writing Arts at Rowan University and earned a Bachelor of Arts. My education afforded diverse course studies, including Creative Writing, Tutoring Writing, The Writer's Mind, Writing Children's Stories, and World Literature, to name a few. Some of my academic writing strengths include spelling and grammar editing, working a "flow" into a paper, and grabbing the audience's attention. Whether you need help brainstorming or polishing your work, we'll create something great! Looking forward to working with you!
I have always dreamed of being a teacher, and I am currently pursuing that goal at Rowan University. I am in my senior year and cannot wait to graduate and start teaching full time! I have received my associates degree in education from my local community college. I tutor mostly English and History subjects for grades K-12, but can also tutor Psychology, and some English college courses. I have been working with people and kids in a teaching setting for the past eight years as a figure skating coach. For the past three years I have had experience teaching in different classrooms as I observed and student taught for my college courses. The most important thing I try to remember when I am teaching is that learning is person centered! I cater all of my lessons to my students and make sure they are learning in the way that best suits them. The degree I am pursuing is in Inclusive Education, which means I am dedicated to teaching any person of any ability.
I have a MA in Writing, concentration in composition and theory, as well as writing in new media. I have a tendency to think outside the box when presented with ideas -- sometimes without realizing my audience wasn't prepared for outside-the-box essays.I can help you craft an essay, no matter the subject material, or, I can help you wade through compositional matter.I also love diagramming sentences, which seems to be a lost art form... sadly. That's all I can think of for now, but here are a few questions the platform prompted me to answer:What are your favorite subjects to tutor?English composition/theory, grammar. I was always such a nerd in those classes, eager to learn everything I could, so I'll definitely be happy to share the education! How many hours per week are you looking to stay busy with students?5hr/week. I'm not looking to be stressed! I want to be able to have time between sessions to do my homework, too!Do you have any upcoming vacations planned?Do you prefer online or in person tutoring?I haven't done online tutoring, so, so far, I enjoy in-person tutoring.
As a college student studying to be an elementary school teacher, I have learned how to engage students in their learning by making them active participants. I believe that students learn by doing and a teacher is there to encourage and guide the students through each step of the way!
I graduated from Rowan University with a double major in history and secondary education. After graduating, I taught in various capacities including as a high school history teacher, a college English teacher in Turkey through the Fulbright Student Program, and created and executed professional development workshops in two West Philadelphia schools while working as part of the University of Pennsylvania's Netter Center for Community Partnerships. These experiences have provided me with the ability to adhere to the needs of a variety of learners. Currently, I am finishing up my M.A in history at the University of Cincinnati and will be entering into a joint Ph.D. program studying the history of education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My expertise as both a historian and as an educator provide me with the tools needed to help my students succeed.

I believe that all students given the right support can excel in mathematics. Students need a teacher who can explain complex math skills in a way that is easy and relates to them in order to help them become successful. Being a great communicator is my strongest attribute because I am able to understand what my students are saying and need so that I can break the problem down into a way they understand and answer their questions. MATH IS FUN IF YOU MAKE IT SIMPLE AND FUN!!!

Hi! My name is Richard and I am currently a third year medical student in NJ. I graduated from Quinnipiac University with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Psychology. Throughout my undergraduate and medical school courses, I have been able to figure out test taking strategies and studying tips that have allowed students to not become overwhelmed, while at the same time synthesize as much information as possible by repetition rather than memorization. My tutoring experience has focused on kindergarteners, college students within any health science / biology major, and now medical students in their first and second year prepping for the COMLEX / USMLE. With kindergarteners, I had the pleasure of working at a local elementary school and assisting teachers with 5-10 kindergarten students at one time. As an anatomy and physiology tutor at Quinnipiac, I held weekly review sessions for 50-75 students to assist with any material learned throughout the week. Currently at my medical school, I work both 1 on 1 and with groups in variety of courses including pathology, physiology, microbiology, anatomy, and biochemistry. I recently just took both the USMLE and COMLEX exams and have study strategies that have proven to work for success. My tutoring style focuses on using visuals and diagrams rather than outlines as I have learned that the best way to grab my students' attention and allow them to retain information in the long run comes from being able to attach a visual detail to their memory! From high school to medical school courses, the workload always seems to be too much to handle, and using quick mnemonics and shortcuts in order to grab big picture details to orient the students into a topic and then dive deeper into the subject has seemed to work.I am a tutor that you can rely on to learn material in a way that focuses solely on student needs. I believe a great tutor is one that adapts to the needs of the learner, and I will keep that mentality throughout each tutoring session. Feel free to reach out to me at any time or schedule a lesson!
I am passionate about helping students succeed and grow. I come from a family of teachers, so I have been involved in education for most of my life. I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Rowan University. I received my Master's degree in Reading Specialist from Holy Family University. I have experience teaching elementary grades 3 and 4. I tutor all subjects at the elementary level, including reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Math is my favorite subject to teach! I believe all students can learn and I am willing to try various strategies in order to help each student achieve their goals.
I like to think that everyone is their own, personal brand of genius. However, for those times when we struggle, there is no shame in asking for a little help. I graduated, cum laude, from Rowan University in 2013 with my BA in English. During this time, I served as a NJ certified substitute teacher. I explored varied career options: manuscript editing for SLACKinc medical publishers, freelance writing for Philadelphia's Headspace magazine, and tutoring privately in English composition. Teaching became a true passion of mine while I was becoming certified to teach English as a foreign language during several weeks in Cusco, Peru. After which, I came back to the States in pursuit of my Master's degree in subject matter education and my NJ standard teaching certificate. When I am not working towards this goal, I am painting, reading, or traveling. I spend much of my spare time on my yoga mat in order to stay in shape for summer hiking trails. I am an avid hiker and backpack traveler and believe in the value of a healthy body and mind. Yoga, in particular, has assisted me in pushing boundaries, cultivating a positive outlook, and maintaining a sense of self-discipline. These are values that would aid any student.
Hey there! My name is Milan. I am a graduate student who is passionate about science, medicine, and teaching. I have extensive experience working as a writing tutor and as a MCAT course for biology and biochemistry.
I graduated from Rowan University with a degree in Management Information Systems. As a student who once struggled with classes in the past, I truly know the difference a good tutor can make. Tutors have the ability to break subjects down into more understandable ways for people who do not see things in the black and white ways that they are taught in schools. I believe that I have the skills to help others learn in new and creative ways like I was taught. There were many times where I faced difficult subjects in school. After almost giving up, once problems were re-worded or used in an applicable way, they were more understandable. I hope to be able to help others as a tutor by helping them find their best learning styles.
I am a high school math teacher, leading Algebra 1, Statistics, and College Algebra courses. I have had much previous experience in the tutoring field in my hometown and at my university, and I am a Level 1 Certified Tutor from the College Reading and Learning Association. My favorite thing about tutoring is being able to work with a student individually to enhance his or her knowledge of the subject matter, and that "AHA" moment is the best!
I believe every student has the ability to learn and thrive. This belief drives my teaching. I have eight years experience tutoring full-time at the community college remedial level. I have also volunteered as a tutor for underprivileged middle school and high school students. I am comfortable tutoring those who are gifted as well as those with learning disabilities.I tutor a wide range of subjects, but am most passionate about Computer Science, Math, and Test Prep. These are all subjects in which a student can feel completely lost or stuck. In my experience, the small steps which can easily be gained in these subjects make a huge difference. The results are noticeable and applicable.I am a lifelong learner and am always reading/learning new things. I love theater, knitting, and technology. I am a graduate of Rowan University and Montclair State University earning a Bachelor of Arts in Theater Education and a Master of Arts in Theater Studies.

I like to focus on explaining concepts in a way that makes sense to them and connecting the material to real-world examples whenever possible. I also enjoy helping students with essay editing and academic writing. My background in both the sciences and anthropology has strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, organize ideas, and refine arguments while maintaining a student's voice. I aim to make the editing process collaborative and encouraging, helping students feel more confident in their writing skills. Overall, I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing academically.
