I hold a BA in philosophy, theatre, and history from one of the top schools in the Midwest. Before that I was a national level debater at one of the top best programs in the country. Nowadays I'm a circus performer as well as a teacher/coach all around the city.

I recently moved back from France where I lived for the last three years working as an elementary school teacher and professional actress. My name is Bryan Wolf. I completed my B.A. in Music with Concentrations in German Studies and Psychology at Kalamazoo College and the University of Bonn, Germany. I subsequently completed a post-graduate Artist Diploma in Composition and Electronic Music at the University of Music and the Performing Arts in Stuttgart, Germany. I was employed a Senior Lecturer and Media Specialist at the School of Design in Pforzheim, Germany for over 20 years. I held major-level courses in Sound Art, Media Design, and Sound for Multimedia Designers, and supervised and mentored B. A. and M.A. level design students. I have extensive and profound knowledge of German culture and everyday life, superb command of the language and deep insights into German society, history, and the educational system. I look forward to being able to guide young people by passing on my knowledge of German culture, language and literature, in music and the arts, as well as mathematics, computer skills, and further subjects.

As a five year experienced elementary teacher I am excited to be tutoring students in math and reading. My specialties are in intervention and small group teaching. I love the "ah ha, I get it" lightbulb moment that students have when they have made the connection in their learning of a subject. I enjoy learning about my students as I teach since their personal experiences bring so much to our learning environment. I am a graduate from Kalamazoo College. I received my Bachelors in International and Area Studies with minors in History and Spanish with a focus in Latin American Studies. Throughout undergrad, I have worked closely with Kalamazoo College's Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) to get involved with local students and schools. With programs such as Homework Champions Tutoring (HCT), I tutored displaced students residing in the Kalamazoo area and speaking English as their second language. I have worked as a tutor and teacher's assistant for El Sol Elementary, one of the few Spanish and English-speaking schools in Michigan. Though in-country experience with the CCE has been valuable, I gained experience living abroad in Quito, Ecuador working as a volunteer English teaching assistant at Carlos Aguilar Elementary. When working with students who come from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds, it can be challenging to form interpersonal relationships. That is why I aim to gain students' trust via shared interests or experiences. This environment based on trust allows for knowledge exchange and demonstrates that I, as a teacher, am here to teach but to learn from my students. These strategies reflect the pedagogy that I want to bring to a classroom, that language learning in all its forms can only happen based on commonality and trust between teacher and student. I love to assist English language learners achieve their academic goals but I am also experienced in tutoring Spanish, History, English, and essay writing.
