I am an undergraduate student at Georgia Tech studying Aeronautical Engineering. I really enjoy problem solving which is why I primarily like the physics and calculus classes. They are a great way to see several connections and it is really interesting to know how everything works.

I am a current biochemistry student at the Georgia Institute of Technology (GT), graduating in May 2021. I decided to tutor online because, during my academic studies, I had encountered the moments when I was looking for help to do my assignments or reports but I was unable to find an expert. Therefore, I am here for you. During my college studies, I participated in two research projects about cellulose-based hydrogel synthesis and tertiary amine saline water filtration. If you are interested, I will be happy to have discussions about these topics. During my project, I managed a group of high school students and tutored them on organic chemistry topics. I enjoyed the interaction I had and learned how passionate I am to teach the knowledge I have gained through academic studies. My favorite topics to tutor are biology and chemistry, as I spent more than 80 hours of credit in school to learn different aspects of these topics. I enjoy chemistry the most because you can feel what you learn and the principles existing in your daily manner, including cooking. Therefore, to my opinion, chemistry is tangible. I can help you with biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, and algebra (plus pre-calculus).

I have a Bachelor's of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), and I have a Master's from Georgia State in Chemistry. I have taught freshman chemistry students in the lab as a graduate student at Georgia State, and I have plenty of experience explaining high school and college level concepts to students.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Kentucky in 2007 and my Master's of Science in Chemistry from Georgia Tech in 2010. Following graduation, I worked as a chemistry professor for 3 1/2 years at Gordon State College teaching General College Chemistry I & II (chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and physical chemistry) and Organic Chemistry I & II. For the first two years that I was a chemistry instructor I was the youngest faculty member on campus and my classes would always be among the first to fill up. In my classroom, my colleagues would describe me as being the goofiest person in the room but it was something that I found necessary to connect with my students. Being a younger professor I remember what it was like to be a student and I remember the things that truly got my attention. I would teach my classes using superheroes, football references, mythbusters, and even relate some material to the school bus. In my office hours, I would be able to find out what interested the students and come up with an example that they would be able to understand. In the sciences, I believe learning should be as much hands on as possible and I used a variety of outside resources to teach various concepts, whether it would be using balloons, dry ice, tennis balls and paper wads, or even LIGHTING WATER ON FIRE. In addition to all of the chemistry subjects (up to a graduate level), I am qualified to teach physics, algebras 1-4, geometry, pre-calculus, and can do SAT and ACT math prep.Outside of the classroom I enjoy watching football and college basketball, going to broadway shows like the Book of Mormon, Wicked, and Monty Python's Spamalot, and going to comic book conventions. After experiencing DragonCon while living in the Atlanta area, there is nothing more fun than watching people dress up in Halloween costumes when it's not Halloween. Finally, I am an avid bowler and love to cook as these are my releases when I am over stressed.

As an undergraduate in the Honors Program at the University of Georgia, I studied Physics and Astronomy. During this time I helped found the first laboratory at my university dedicated to the research and development of small satellites, and through this experience I earned an internship at NASA Langley Research Center. After graduating, I completed one year of a PhD program at Georgia Tech in Ocean Science and Engineering, and I am now pursuing my biggest passion, marine conservation, in Wilmington. I began tutoring math, chemistry, and physics back in high school, and have continued since then. In college, I was a peer learning assistant (sort of like a teaching assistant) for a physics class that catered toward non-physics majors. Thus, I am experienced in tutoring both high school and college students with a range of experience in math and science. The subjects I can help with are math (algebra, calculus, and anything in between), physics (high school and college), and even flute and music theory. My favorite subject to help students with is physics, because I enjoy helping people think about problems from new perspectives and empowering them to tackle a subject traditionally seen to be so challenging. I am currently an adjunct professor of chemistry at a small liberal arts college in the Chicago area. Previously, I worked in the chemical industry for several years as a researcher, but I've found that the most satisfying moments have come when I am able to share my expertise with someone else. Hi! I'm Yashas, and I am a graduate student at UCLA studying Bioinformatics. I completed my Bachelors and Masters degrees in Biology at Georgia Tech in May 2025. I've been a Varsity Tutors tutor since June 2022. I also taught large classes through high school, with experience teaching science and English. Through an organization called the North South Foundation, which provides scholarships to underprivileged children in India, I taught basic science subjects such as chemistry, earth science, physics, and more. I taught English classes to students in India who had little to no English exposure through another nonprofit organization called PURE, which works to ensure underprivileged children can attain their education. Throughout my teaching and tutoring experiences, I have always worked to be approachable and welcoming to my students, because I believe asking questions can often times be the most effective way of learning. Generating and asking questions can give students a different method of approaching problems that they face, and I try to make sure I can be there for students to have any questions they have answered. I recently retired from a 37-year career in aerospace at Lockheed Martin. I was an engineer and have an Electrical Engineering Degree from Georgia Tech. Many years ago, when I was a student in high school and college my favorite subject was math. The main reason I enjoyed math so much was because my father was also an engineer (Graduate of the Coast Guard Academy) and very passionate about math, and he spent a lot of time with me solving math problems. He made math seem fun! During my career at Lockheed Martin, I always enjoyed mentoring and training new hires. Over the years, I've found that I enjoy teaching and I have a lot of patience explaining technical concepts. I have been complimented many times by my former colleagues about my excellent teaching skills. Now that I'm retired and have the time to teach, I am excited about finding creative ways to make math fun for my students. To me, solving math problems and solving puzzles are synonymous. In addition to math, I'm also interested in teaching basic computer programming concepts and the game of chess. Let's make math fun again!

I believe tutoring is the single greatest tool that will fix the holes currently being perpetuated by our flawed education system in the United States. I'm a recent graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology and majored in Mathematics during my college years. Currently, I'm a data scientist at a company. For work, I use statistics daily and it has become one of my strong suits. The majority of my work is technical, but I have to present these technical projects to none technical people. Thus, it has taught me a way to simplify and explain technical terms. Similarly, I can use this skill set to present complex math problems that can be understood by anyone and everyone.Since high school, I've been around tutoring centers and volunteered there to tutor SAT. From the volunteering experience, I gained a lot of understanding on working with high school students. I did a lot of SAT test prep with the students and corrected their mistakes on each incorrect math problem. Also, I have previous experience in tutoring from elementary to college math. For example, some of these sections include calculus, algebra, geometry, etc. When I took the SAT back in high school, I got a perfect score in the math section and on the math II subject test as well. In turn, I am confident that I can tutor students of all grade levels and of various math skillset. For college students specifically, I have a great study plan that can help them with improving their grades and understand the math concepts that are taught in class. This plan got me through the rigorous courses of my own years at GT, so I am confident in its implementation. I am currently also studying to take the GMAT, and it has been a great refresher on the different math subjects that I have learned throughout the years. I look for the simplest approach as well as providing pictorial/graphical explanations so that students can grasp concepts better by not only memorizing theories, formulas and identities. More so, I also encourage students to solve problems after learning a topic; that way the concept is learned better and fully comprehended. I have done all forms of tutoring in the past with the exception of online tutoring, I have held one-on-one tutoring sessions and, a classroom format of tutoring/recitation. I am willing to hold any session depending on requests, availability, session scheduling and number of students.I hope after each session, students would appreciate the subject matter and would be willing to solve problems using resources in the right manner.
