I received my Bachelor of Science in biology and a minor in psychology from Northeastern University. I am a STEM educator with over ten years of experience and worked with diverse populations of students at primary and secondary levels spanning traditional public and charter schools. I firmly believe that all students deserve bright futures through equitable access to education and career opportunities. I enjoy the outdoors and reading with my young daughters in my spare time.

I am passionate about teaching. I am a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese. I have many years of experience in teaching Chinese language and math. Although I have not taught in a classroom setting, I have advised international students on F-1 Visa regulations for the last two years.
One of my favorite parts about tutoring students is the ability to get to know each one of my clients on an individual basis. With that information, I can then structure and tailor each session in order to build upon the student's strengths as well as help develop areas of difficulty. Learning should (and can) be fun! As a classroom teacher, I strove to challenge, support, nurture and foster a love for learning in my students. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you!
Everyone CAN learn how to do anything but our path to get there is as unique as we are!As a Special Education Teacher for over ten years I have a great deal of experience working with a wide variety of students. I have great ideas for organization and executive functioning that can benefit all students. I specialize in working with middle and high school students who are having a difficult time learning new concepts in traditional ways.I have a Masters Degree in Education and am certified to teach students from elementary through high school in a ton of academic content areas. When I am not currently teaching in the classroom or tutoring students I enjoying spending time with my husband and our two boys traveling and going on adventures. I am also a goalie for a ball hockey team and we travel up and down the coast playing against other teams. Nothing like standing in front of those slap shots to keep you on your toes and ready for the next opportunity.
I first was introduced to the world of tutoring as a college tutor for writing subjects and the Spanish language. I graduated with my B.S. in Communications with a minor in Spanish - including a 4 month study abroad in Spain which has fueled my passion for Spanish language and culture!Through tutoring I've enjoyed helping students with all different learning styles. I am very patient, and I love to see my tutees improving their skills and growing confidence with their knowledge.I enjoy my work as an advisor to International students and I spend my free-time practicing photography, seeing music live, reading, and exploring Boston.Learning to speak another language opens up a world of opportunities! Vamos a aprender!!
I graduated from New York University in 2008 - even though my degree was in Music Business, after taking some substitute teaching work I realized I enjoyed working with students. I began working full-time as an instructional aide with middle and high school students. I enrolled in Fitchburg State's Masters in Special Education program in 2010 with the goal of becoming a licensed special educator. Students seem to get the most when they ask me about maths and sciences, and now I have a bit of a reputation around my building for having strengths in those subjects. In my mind, working with a student (especially in math) can be something like a game: there's a goal, there's someone to collaborate with, there are strategies to use, and if you let yourself you can have fun doing it. The mindset of curiosity and enthusiasm that comes from a game is powerful when used in a math or science setting. I also make a point of emphasizing thinking actively about different strategies when doing schoolwork, studying, reading, and test-taking. I believe the best student is someone who actively thinks about what they do and whether they can improve, and the best tutor is someone who coaches them to that ability. When I'm not working, I enjoy gaming, making music, and reading.
I received my education at Fitchburg State University (BS), Salen Syaye University (M.ED), and Harvard University (M.ED)I taught Mathematics at the High Schoolm Level for 17 years. The subjects were Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, and Trigonometry. My tutoring style is using the Socratic method of starting with what the student knows to learn what they don't. Very effective. My outside interests include sports and movies.
I am a science teacher, I have been for 3 years, prior to that I worked as a paraprofessional in a special education classroom and did some ABA work. I am well versed in teaching students where they are at and making appropriate accommodations. I got my bachelors degree in Biology from Fitchburg State University, I followed that up with my Masters degree in Curriculum and Teaching. I love all of the sciences, biology being my favorite, math and psychology. Whenever I have free time (which isn't often now because I have a 4 year old son and a 2 year old daughter) I enjoy either reading books on psychology and past studies, I find human behaviors and the brain to be so fascinating. I am very upbeat and encouraging, I try to make learning an enjoyable experience! I look forward to working with you!

I am a graduate of Colby College in Waterville Maine, where I received my BA in Biology. Since then I have taught high school Biology and Chemistry in a public high school in a suburb of Boston. I received my Masters of Education from Fitchburg State University, as well as an advanced degree in Educational Leadership and Management. Along with being a teacher, I was a football and baseball coach in Massachusetts for the past 9 years. I believe that teaching academic subjects and sports go hand in hand, and I am equally passionate about teaching and coaching. My favorite part of being a teacher is the one on one interactions with students. Whether it is on the field or in the classroom, I love the feeling when students have that "Ah ha!" moment, and finally get a difficult concept. I have experience with teaching all different types of learners, and students with various learning disabilities. I love to differentiate instruction in order to fit each student's unique learning style.I love tutoring science, particularly biology and chemistry because these subjects require a unique way of thinking. Instead of committing facts to memory, I challenge students to learn patterns, to use critical thinking skills and to question their reasoning in order to come up with a plan to solve scientific problems. I believe that scientific thinking is a skill that can help students in all facets of their life. When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy being active. My hobbies include going for walks with my puppy, spending time outside, and playing and watching sports. I played football in college, and I still play softball and flag football.
Currently an ESL night class instructor for adults, I've been tutoring and teaching since 2013, when I graduated from Bard College with a BA in Written Arts and Spanish. A lover of language and literature, I taught English in rural Spain for a year to elementary school students. While in Spain, I also provided private writing and essay-prep classes to students of all ages, including adults. In addition, I have three years of experience as an academic support teacher at a middle/high school in Western Massachusetts. This position entailed helping students with homework in all the subjects, particularly reading, writing (including college essay writing), and Spanish. Although I do enjoy classroom teaching, I love tutoring because working one-on-one with students lets me get to know them personally and tailor lessons to their interests.
I am a graduate of the University of New Hampshire. I received my Bachelor of Arts.Recently, I earned a Masters of Education at Fitchburg State University. I have been a teacher of Math for 9 years. During this time, I have tutored a wide range of students from Elementary level to College level. Specifically, I tutor Algebra 1-4, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics and Pre-Calculus. With every student I tutor, I try to show my love of math by showing how most math concepts have their beginnings in very early concepts. By connecting past lessons with the present skill that a student might be struggling with, hard problems become easy. I am a very patient and encouraging tutor. In a subject like math, where people might have anxiety, it is important to make the math fun and connected to the world around us. In my spare time, I enjoy watching a good movie, sports and spending time with my family.
