I recently graduated from Drexel University in June 2014 with a Bachelor's of Arts in English and a Bachelor's of Science in Nutrition and Food Sciences. Teaching was a core value reflected in the curriculum for both of my undergraduate majors. As a nutrition major, I was afforded the opportunity to teach nutrition education classes in underserved neighborhoods and elementary schools. As an English major, I took pride in helping fellow students and aspiring writers to refine their thoughts and ideas in essays and creative compositions alike. In my current position as a laboratory technician in a university setting, I work directly with students in a lab setting on a daily basis. I have worked as a teaching assistant for university-level microbiology courses and I also have expansive experience in writing, literary analysis, and reading comprehension, as I have composed original research in English literature, peer reviewed many of my colleagues' papers, and have served as an editorial intern for a published literary journal and as a weekly arts journalist for a local online publication.Since graduating from college and starting my primary occupation as a lab technician, I found that I have less opportunities to help students and to improve their writing and analytical reading skills, which is a profound passion of mine. Tutoring students in English literature and composition enables me to keep doing something that I love to do. In my spare time, I also enjoy painting, learning computer programming, baking, and reading anything and everything that I can.
Hello, my name is Lena! I graduated from Tufts University in 2017 with a BS in Biology, and I just completed my MS of Biomedical Studies at Drexel University. In my master's program, I was a peer tutor for graduate level sciences, such as anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry. In August, I will be starting medical school to pursue my dream of being a physician. In the meantime, I am here to help with pre-med coursework, MCAT prep, and many other classes. I am frequently available for online tutoring.
Hi! I'm currently a Master's student studying biomedical studies and I am preparing to begin medical school.
I have spent a huge portion of my life in education, both pursuing it and dispensing it. I have a B.S. in Environmental Science from Drexel University, and a M.S. in Environmental Science from Stockton University. I first started working as a tutor in 2012, when I tutored students in writing at Drexel, and went on to work as a tutor in a wider variety of subjects - environmental science, biology, writing, European and U.S. History, and other social studies courses- for students ranging from middle school through college. I am currently working as a lab instructor at Temple University, where I teach both underclass and upperclass biology courses.I aim to make learning fun and take pride in engaging my students on the topic of the day, even when it's something they may not be as passionate about. I work hard to engage my students, and try to approach the material from an angle that will draw them in. I am comfortable in group settings, or one-on-one, either in person or virtually, and like to tailor my sessions to the individual needs of the student - whether they need help understanding the material, with strategies for studying, or even just with motivation. I have a good deal of experience working with students who are studying for the AP exams, and have many strategies for studying for them (especially for those students who don't like to study!).
Tutoring is more than just teaching someone. Something I have learned over the course of my tutoring is that you have to seek out the great potential in every student, personalize your teaching, and of course, involve your students in an active participation, because their success also depends on all of the above. I am a nurse graduate from Drexel University. I reside in Lancaster, PA. My strong background and exposure to science and my enthusiasm for helping others will help me achieve goals of making others successful as well.
Let's face it: Math can be tough. So why not make it easier with a personal tutor there help explain the hard things?I have over 5 years of private and group tutoring in all math levels from middle school to high school. I have helped students with Algebra I and II, Geometry, Precalculus, Trigonometry, and Calculus, as well as test prep for the SAT. In that time period, I have had the opportunity to work with dozens of students with different backgrounds, skill levels, and learning styles. As much as tutoring helps the student, it also helps me. My instruction incorporates the best techniques and explanations that I have found most effective over the years.I believe there are two critical ingredients needed to conquer any math issues. The first, is the quality of the tutor. Without a doubt, many people can teach you how to do a math problem, but not everyone can help explain it in such a way that you understand it and can apply the knowledge to future problems. The second important ingredient to successful learning is a positive attitude by the student. When tackling tough math problems, many students begin to feel overwhelmed by the material. I make sure to teach the material at a level the student can understand before progressing to more difficult problems. I have found that this approach allows the student to build up their confidence in the material, which directly translates into a willingness to learn and work hard.In addition, I highly value communication during the tutoring process. This involves keeping parents updated with how lessons are progressing and what was covered and could also include reaching out to school teachers to learn more about the material being covered. This also allows both the student and parents to give me feedback if a certain style of teaching helped a lot or not as much. A big support system around the student is incredibly important to creating a productive environment.I love seeing that aha moment on students faces, and Id love to see one on yours! I encourage you to reach out if you not only want to meet your goals, but exceed them. I look forward to hearing from you.
My Goal is to help you achieve success in subjects and topics where improvement is needed. I bring over a decade of experience in Cyber Security plus advance degrees and certificates, that will help you to master these difficult topics.
I LOVE BIOLOGY. Joking aside I am currently finishing up my masters degree in biology (MBS) from Drexel University and this work is following a bachelors degree in biological sciences (BS) from Rhode Island College. I also and applying to medical schools for the class of 2021 and have experience with both the old and new MCAT and the application cycle so I encourage students if they have questions to ask away. My hobbies include sports, travel, and movies.
As an aspiring doctor, I enjoy helping other students understand the applicability of biology within the field of medicine. I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors degree in Biology. Currently, I am pursuing a Masters degree to further my scientific education and will be starting medical school in the Fall. Outside of the classroom, I have worked in a reproductive biology lab as well as volunteered in multiple hospital clinics and hope to apply my personal and professional experiences to enhance the academic achievements of my students!

Frequently Asked Questions
Tutors who attended or graduated from Drexel University bring both academic expertise and real-world experience. Many have completed rigorous coursework in their subject areas and have navigated Drexel's cooperative education program, which emphasizes practical application alongside theoretical knowledge. This combination means they understand not just what to teach, but how to connect concepts to real-world problem-solving—a valuable perspective when explaining complex material to students.
Learning from someone with Drexel experience offers a unique advantage: they've already mastered the material you're working to understand, and they can share strategies that worked for them in rigorous coursework. Drexel's emphasis on hands-on learning and co-op experiences means these tutors often bring practical examples and problem-solving approaches that go beyond textbook explanations. They can also provide insight into how different subjects connect to real career applications, which helps contextualize why you're learning something in the first place.
Varsity Tutors connects students with tutors from Drexel's diverse academic programs, including engineering, business, computer science, mathematics, chemistry, physics, and more. Many also excel in test prep for the SAT, ACT, and GRE—areas where strong foundational knowledge is essential. Because Drexel emphasizes technical and professional fields, you'll find particularly strong expertise in STEM subjects and business-related coursework, though tutors are available across many academic disciplines.
Drexel's cooperative education program requires students to complete multiple internships alongside their studies, giving tutors real-world experience in their fields. This means they've applied what they learned in the classroom to actual job settings and projects. When you're struggling with a concept, a tutor with co-op experience can explain not just how to solve a problem, but why it matters in professional contexts—something that can deepen understanding and motivation, especially if you're working toward a specific career path.
Yes. Drexel's curriculum is known for academic rigor, particularly in engineering, mathematics, and sciences. Tutors who have completed these programs are well-equipped to help with challenging upper-level courses, technical subjects, and problem-intensive material.
