Whether you are a successful student at SUNY Upstate Medical University or you've struggled with your coursework, Varsity Tutors can help connect you with a private Syracuse USMLE tutor or prep course. The USMLE, or United States Medical Licensing Exam, is taken by students who wish to become licensed medical professionals in the United States. Just like you can be certain that bearcats have unusually long tails, you can be certain that the USMLE is crucial to your medical career, so you want to make sure that you are prepared when it comes time to take them. A Syracuse USMLE prep course or private instructor can help you review the fundamentals you will need to know and identify any areas where you need improvement.
What Concepts are Covered by Syracuse USMLE Prep?
The USMLE consist of three different exams, or Steps. Each one tests different levels of skill that are required in the medical field. Step 1 covers the basic science concepts that are involved in practicing medicine, and Step 2 covers Clinical Knowledge and Clinical Skills. Step 3 is taken over two days and assesses whether a student has the medical knowledge and understanding of the required sciences that are necessary for practicing medicine unsupervised. Step 1 and Step 2 can be taken in either order, but you will need to pass both before you are eligible to move on to Step 3. Most students complete Steps 1 and 2 at the end of their second and fourth years respectively. Step 3 is usually taken during the first or second year of postgraduate training. Most medical licensing authorities require students to complete the three steps within a seven-year period. Some of the topics that are covered include the general principles of foundational science, behavioral health, and social sciences. The systems of the human body such as the nervous system, the musculoskeletal system, the respiratory system, and the cardiovascular system will also be covered by the exams.
Syracuse USMLE prep can help you better understand the material covered by the exams as well as their basic format. Step 1 consists of 280 multiple choice questions that are divided into seven 60-minute blocks, while Step 2 consists of 316 multiple choice questions divided into eight 60-minute blocks. Each Step is taken in a single day. Step 3 is another multiple choice exam, but it is taken over two days.
What are the Benefits of Each Type of Syracuse USMLE Prep?
Varsity Tutors can connect you with one of two different types of Syracuse USMLE prep. The first is a Syracuse USMLE prep course that is taken online, and the other is private instruction with a Syracuse USMLE tutor. Most students choose one type of preparation over the other, but some opt for both. If you are the type of learner who does better in a classroom setting, you will probably benefit more from a Syracuse USMLE preparation course. These courses are entirely online and allow you to interact with instructors and fellow students using our Live Learning Platform and a virtual whiteboard. Since the courses are online, they provide the flexibility that any med student will need. There is no need to travel to a physical classroom, so you will be able to participate in a session as long as you have a stable Internet connection. The biggest benefit of these online courses is the ability to collaborate with other students, but you will have the option of speaking to your instructor one-on-one if you need any extra help.
If you do better with private instruction than in an online prep class, we can also connect you with a Syracuse USMLE tutor. As with the online courses, these tutoring sessions are entirely flexible and can be built around your own schedule. Your instructor will work with you and tailor your lessons to your strengths and any areas where you need improvement. For example, you might understand everything there is to know about the musculoskeletal system, but you might struggle a bit with behavioral sciences. Your instructor will be able to work closely with you to help you with this subject, all while allowing you to work at your own pace.
How Can I Get started with Syracuse USMLE Prep?

I like to be creative and adapt to the learning style of a student. My goal is to make learning fun and never feel like a chore.... Adapt to what kind of learning the student best responds to; that way learning is fun and easy going, and never frustrating.... Get to know each other a bit, in order to know how to approach each topic the best way possible.... I think making different suggestions on how I taught myself, the material could bring some insight to someone in how to go about understanding the topic.
