Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Maggie in Bradenton, FL
Yesterday, we worked on answering questions based on a script and definitions in the student's conflicts textbook. I also read the paper she had to read for today's quiz and highlighted additional areas I thought she should focus on.

I met with the student for study skills--he added a new online class (history). We created a study plan together, outlining the assignments, testing dates, and extracurricular activities. The study plan also includes time allotment for each subject matter. He will receive a daily email/ text reminder as follow up to ensure that he is giving his classwork the attention it needs. The study session included practice for Japanese vocabulary and oral exam. He also reviewed the literature terms and starting creating Cornell notes for new unit in biology. For this week, he will need to take time to review his vocab terms and start reviewing the material/ videos for the online course.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Carlee in Bradenton, FL
Today's session focused on assessing the student's immediate needs in math and reading. By having him read for 20 minutes and write his summary on his reading log, I was able to formulate new vocabulary words to practice as well as figure out the core issues he has with fractions. We also went over the definitions for his spelling words in Chapter 3; I administered a spelling test, of which he got 15/20 correct. His homework was to write out each word he missed 20 times. Tomorrow, I hope to hone in on fractions through the supplemental packets provided by his teacher as well as read for at least 25 minutes and fill out a second day of his reading log. He will be tested again tomorrow on his vocabulary words.

I helped the student with his exam review. He solved questions related to exponents, systems of equations, parabolic equations, plotting parabolas, and word problems. He showed a very good understanding of the material.

During today's session, the student and I worked on multiplication with decimals. She is able to complete the multiplication problems and is able to remember the decimal placement. We also reviewed science material for a test which she has on light. We discussed the definitions that are necessary as well as making diagrams to illustrate the concept. For the next session, we will work on reading skills.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Kate in Bradenton, FL
Tonight's goal was to complete the pages in the student's practice book that we didn't get to the evening before. When it comes to the pages that required her to fill in the blank from a word bank, she initially struggled. But after she correctly answered the first one, she sped through the rest. The idea of a reward at the end keeps her motivated; so I let her draw something for me at the end of our session if she completes all her homework. Giving her something to look forward to makes our sessions much smoother.
