Do they have an IEP or 504 plan? (We have tutors that specialize in learning differences)

The tutor that was paired with my daughter was perfect and fits Bella's needs. Bella struggles with attention and has been on a 504 plan for years. The tools used, the interaction and flexibility are priceless. I was hesitant at first but now I'd do it again and I recommend Varsity Tutors!!

How can SAT Reading tutoring help you succeed?

SAT scores are very important to your future. They dictate what college you will be able to attend, which could make a large impact on your career. The reading section of the SAT requires you to be able to read quickly and comprehend material, but this can be difficult for students that read slowly. Luckily, this is a subject you can study to improve, so you still have options. Working with a tutor is one way to potentially improve your chances of doing well on the SAT Reading portion. Varsity Tutors can help you find an independent SAT Reading tutor in Dallas Fort Worth, TX.

One of the key skills you will need is being able to infer the meaning of a word based on its context. The test is very predictable in what content will be included, so your tutor will be able to walk you through exercises that will try to help you to learn how to interpret these situations. An SAT Reading tutor will be an expert on deciphering reading and will know many tips and tricks to teach you for use in high-pressure situations. If you are struggling with SAT Reading, a professional tutor in Dallas Fort Worth could be the answer. Your tutor will create custom curriculum that focuses on how you learn. Your test-taking style may vary from other students, but your new tutor will instruct you on how to potentially increase your score.

SAT Reading Tutoring review by Andrey in Dallas Fort Worth, TX
The student and I covered the historical and political part of the SAT in depth. She has mastered all other parts of the test, scoring perfect scores on the other sections.

SAT Reading Tutoring review by Margaret in Dallas Fort Worth, TX
The student and I spent the first half of the time talking about an essay he was working on for class. I talked about how to contextualize his argument and provide information methodically to a reader. I also discussed his tendency towards universalizing language and the necessity of supporting any claims that he makes with evidence. For the second half, we worked on SAT prep, specifically on sections that he has trouble with (reading sections concerning pre-1900 writing, which is a style that confuses him because it is so dense and nuanced, not informational).

SAT Reading Tutoring review by Jamie in Dallas Fort Worth, TX
The student and I went over her reading homework. She did well overall, but did miss a mixture of inference, vocab in context, and main idea questions. We spent time going over the different types of questions in the Reading section, and she did practice sets for each type of question. She was able to easily self-correct about 85% of the time when she missed a question. There were only a couple that she needed further explanations on. For homework, I have asked her to try to complete both verbal sections of the next practice test in her SAT book. We will go over homework next time, talk about any problem areas, and also talk about the SAT essay.

SAT Reading Tutoring review by Susan in Dallas Fort Worth, TX
The student did a great job on his SAT vocabulary terms this week. He is connecting the words to his own life, finding images that resonate with him, and building great sentences. We reviewed the terms and finished the SAT reading comprehension assignment from our last session. We will continue to focus on extracting the main idea, the author's tone, and making inferences using only the passage. We also worked on the reading assignment for his English class, using it to practice SAT comprehensions skills, as well, so that he can see that these strategies will serve him in all of his reading.

SAT Reading Tutoring review by Andrea in Dallas Fort Worth, TX
The student has decided to take the ACT rather than the SAT. He recently took a pretest, which revealed that his area of improvement is reading comprehension. I also know from working with him that he needs organizational work on his essay writing. During this session, we went through one reading passage and went over it because he had some questions about it. He will complete the questions, and we will go over them in the next session. For the essay, he had completed one in the weeks we did not meet. His ideas were good but needed to be more clearly separated. We edited and discussed this, and he brainstormed and outlined an essay on a different topic, which he will write for homework, and we will go over next week.

SAT Reading Tutoring review by Kimberly in Dallas Fort Worth, TX
Today was the student's final session before taking the SAT on Saturday. We practiced for the writing section and reviewed some common grammatical concepts. He and I discussed the importance of sticking to the plan on test day and refocusing when he feels overwhelmed. He has worked hard to improve his score. I am confident he will reach his goal.
