What skills or content can a Salt Lake City MCAT course cover to help me prepare for the MCAT?
There are four different assessments on the MCAT: the Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems assessment, the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills assessment, the Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems assessment, and the Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior assessment. from start to finish, you will have 7.5 hours to complete these four sections, including your brakes. You will be required to answer a total of 230 questions that evaluate your memory and retention of the basic skills learned in your introductory level science courses. Let's take a brief look at the content you will need to review for each reviews sections.
The Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems assessment lasts for 95 minutes and assesses your knowledge of human anatomy and the function of the human bodies tissues, organs, and organ systems with 59 questions. You will need to be able to relate these concepts to the laws of physics.
The Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills assessment consists of 53 questions with a 1.5-hour time limit. It assesses your verbal reasoning, analytical thinking, and reading comprehension skills. The answers for the questions and this portion of the exam come directly from the passages that can cover a variety of topics from social sciences to humanities.
The next section is the Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems assessment. This part of the exam follows the same format as the first section with 59 questions and a 95-minute time limit. This part of the exam is where you will demonstrate your knowledge of the processes which are unique to living organisms as well as basic biological and biochemical foundational concepts.
The Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior assessment also follows the same question and time limit format as the first section. The section focuses on the skills you will need to master in order to serve our diverse population and focuses on mental health issues.
