If you are currently looking for a Salt Lake City ISEE prep course or instructor, Varsity Tutors would be happy to set you up with the right ISEE review opportunity to assist your student in putting his or her best foot forward. The ISEE, which is also known as the Independent School Entrance Exam, is used to assess a student's achievement and mastery of the skills needed to succeed in an independent school. Although the exam is not the only factor taken into consideration for admissions purposes, it is important for your student to do his or her best on this exam. An ISEE review course can help your student feel ready to walk into the test with confidence.
What material can be covered during Salt Lake City ISEE prep to assist my student in preparing for the ISEE?
The ISEE is offered at different levels depending on which grade your student is about to enter. The Upper Level ISEE is for students entering ninth grade or higher. The Middle Level ISEE is for students entering seventh or eighth grade. The Lower Level ISEE is for any student entering the fifth or sixth grade. Students entering the second through fourth grade will take one of the Primary Level ISEEs. Let's take a closer look at what you can expect to find that each level.
Students taking the Upper, Middle and Lower Level ISEE will take five sections: Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Math Achievement, and an unscored Writing prompt. All three of these levels consist of the same number of questions with the same time limit. However, the level and difficulty of the questions depend on the grade level of the student taking the test. Verbal Reasoning assesses grade level vocabulary, the ability to use context clues to decipher the meaning of a word, and knowledge of the parts of speech. The Quantitative Reasoning section evaluates a student's ability to use mathematics and logical thinking skills to solve a problem. The Reading Comprehension section is your student's opportunity to demonstrate his or her ability to read a passage and determine the main and supporting ideas. The Math Achievement section assesses your student's mastery of grade-level appropriate math operational skills. At these levels, the Writing prompt provides students with an age-appropriate topic of interest and gives your student an opportunity to tell the prospective school more about him or herself.
Students taking the Primary Level ISEEs will take three sections: Reading, Math, and Writing. The Reading section assesses a student's reading comprehension skills as well as knowledge of age-appropriate vocabulary. The Math section is a multiple-choice test that evaluates a student's basic math skills. As with the other levels, the Writing portion is not scored. Students at this level will be required to tell a story based on a picture prompt. This gives your student the opportunity to show off his or her personality and creativity. Second-grade students are also required to complete a short Auditory Comprehension section in which students must listen to passages and answer questions based on the content.
No matter where your student is currently at in his or her ISEE review process, Varsity Tutors is here to assist and support as he or she reaches for educational goals with the best Salt Lake City ISEE prep options.
What are the benefits of the different types of Salt Lake City ISEE prep?
When you choose Varsity Tutors for your ISEE review, you will have the opportunity to choose between two excellent options. We offer the opportunity to enroll in an online interactive course. We can also connect you with a knowledgeable private tutor. Both of these options are exceptional resources when your student is preparing to take this important exam. Each, however, comes with its own set of benefits and advantages so let's take a look at each option in more detail.
When you sign your student up for a Salt Lake City ISEE prep class, he or she will be able to access live classes using our online learning platform. This allows your student to access classes anywhere with high-speed Internet and a computer. This allows your student to attend classes at either the public library, a favorite café, or even in the comfort of your own home. Your student can either take a two-week or four-week course. New sessions begin every week, so your student can get started at any time.
Once your student has signed up, he or she will be able to interact directly with the teacher as if they are in the same room, just like in a traditional classroom setting. He or she will also be able to engage in collaborative activities and group discussions. For example, if your student is working on writing skills, he or she can participate in peer editing groups to work on punctuation, spelling, and grammar. These types of collaborative activities have been shown to deepen a student's understanding of the material being reviewed and can help make learning more enjoyable.
If your student prefers more personalized instruction, a private Salt Lake City ISEE tutor might be the right answer. A private instructor can work with your student to assess his or her personal strengths, witnesses, weaknesses, and preferred learning style. With this information in mind, customized lesson plans can be created that cater to your student's exact needs. Your student can work on topics at his or her own pace and can move on to new skills as he or she progresses. This makes study sessions more efficient and effective.
Some parents may wish to sign their student up for both options, which can give him or her access to the best of both options.

Every student has their own unique talents. Every student has the ability to master information. Every student can succeed in different ways and on different days.... There is value in all learning though we may not recognize it while we are going through it. But one piece of information, one skill we mastered, will one day be critical in achieving a goal we really want. Hard work is the price we pay for getting to that place where we can enjoy learning and doing.
