If you are interested in taking either the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) or the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) to become a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical/ Vocational Nurse, then Varsity Tutors can connect you with a Richmond NCLEX tutor or online course. By taking a prep class or working privately with a tutor, you can go over the important concepts and fundamentals that you learned in nursing school. That way, you could feel more confident going into the exam than you would if you were to study for the exams on your own.
What concepts and topics will be covered during Richmond NCLEX prep?
The NCLEX test plans are updated every three years to reflect current, entry-level nursing competency. So whether you attended Virginia Commonwealth University, Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing, or any other college in the area, you should have a solid base knowledge of what is required to pass these exams.
Both the NCLEX-RN and the NCLEX-PN are done via Computerized Adaptive Testing, or CAT. The number of questions that will be asked varies per student and can range from 75 to 265 for the RN exam and 85 to 205 for the PN exam. You will answer multiple-response questions, ordered-response questions, and fill-in-the-blank questions. You have between 5 and 6 hours to take the exam, but many candidates do not need the full time to complete the examinations.
The exams cover basic nursing concepts like psychology, microbiology, and chemistry as well as the four primary categories of client needs: Physiological Integrity, Health Promotion and Maintenance, Safe and Effective Care Environment, and Psychosocial Integrity. These sections will cover concepts that you need to know so that you can provide quality care to your patients.
With such a wealth of content to cover and such an in-depth exam, it's easy to see how preparation can be key when going into the exam day. Your instructor won't just be able to help you with the content of each examination; they can also review with you the most effective test-taking techniques that can help you be better prepared for the NCLEX.
What are the benefits of different types of Richmond NCLEX Prep?
Varsity Tutors can provide you with two different types of prep: online classes or private tutoring. If you feel more comfortable and familiar with a classroom setting, then a Richmond NCLEX prep course might be right for you. The prep course uses our Live Learning Platform, which means you will take part in your class via video chat and use an online whiteboard. In the virtual classroom, you are able to interact with your peers as well as your instructor from the comfort of your own home. This online platform allows you to share your ideas with your classmates. You can get your questions answered right away by your instructor.
If you prefer working at your own pace in a more personalized setting, then you can opt for a private academic mentor. Studying in a one-on-one setting can allow you the opportunity to dive deep into content that you may not familiar with. With your own personal instructor, you can get an individualized learning experience to help you effectively work toward your academic goals. An academic mentor can also give you continuous, in-the-moment feedback, as well as assist you in learning the most effective test-taking strategies. For example, if you don't know the answer right away, you can look for keywords like "not" or "if" within the question to help you determine which answer is the correct one.
If you would like to supplement your Richmond NCLEX prep course with individual, face-to-face instruction, you can attend both a class and get private tutoring. Each option has unique benefits, but no matter which one you decide to go with, your instructor will be familiar with the format and content of the NCLEX and able to teach students like you.
How am I best able to set myself up for Richmond NCLEX Preparation?
If you're someone who does not think they will have the time for a class or private instruction, you should know that scheduling is very flexible. With online access to a class or tutor, you can still find time for exam prep no matter how busy you are. If you think that Richmond NCLEX prep can help you, give Varsity Tutors a call today. Our educational consultants are at the ready and can provide an answer to any questions you may have. Call today!
