Regardless of whatever point you're at in your LSAT prep, Varsity Tutors can get you into the Portland LSAT prep course that is most convenient for you. In this course, you will be able to gain a stronger grasp on the test than you might if you were studying alone. The LSAT is the test you'll need to take if you wish to attend a law school such as The Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College. This exam will measure your proficiency in skills that are needed to succeed in law school, such as the ability to engage in logical reasoning and comprehend readings. Admissions staff will look at your score on this exam to assess how well you'll be able to function in law school.
If you feel that you could use some extra help in preparing for this important exam, then a Portland LSAT course may be the perfect solution for you. These collaborative courses can help solidify your understanding of how the LSAT works. Highly trained instructors can guide you through the topics and help answer any questions that you may have about the test. Since this test will determine your entrance into law school, it's imperative that you put forth your very best effort into preparing for it.
What will I be reviewing in a Portland LSAT course?
When you take the LSAT, there will be four main sections on the test. These sections are Analytical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Logical Reasoning, and Writing. These are subjects that a Portland LSAT course can help you review. Let's examine each of these sections in turn to get a better idea of what they'll involve and the skills that you will need for them.
The Analytical Reasoning section, which lasts 35 minutes, will test how well you can comprehend a structure of relationships and draw logical conclusions from it. In this portion of the exam, you must be able to reason through conditional statements and infer truth based upon information that is provided to you. For this section, you must have a sharp ability to work through logical statements and come to accurate conclusions about them.
In the Reading Comprehension portion of the test, which will take 35 minutes, you will be tested on your ability to comprehend long and complicated texts. Since this is a skill that you must use constantly throughout law school, it is critical that you understand it. Here you must demonstrate a keen ability to answer questions about the main point of a text, understand the attitude of the author, and make logical inferences from the text.
When you get to the Logical Reasoning section of the test, you will have 70 minutes to critically analyze arguments. This content will come from a wide variety of publications such as magazines, newspapers, and scholarly material. Here you must be able to identify the assumptions that an argument makes, find flaws in the argument, and recognize the different parts of an argument and how they relate to each other.
In the Writing section of the test, you will have 35 minutes to make a choice between two positions and compose a well-reasoned response. Your writing must be organized and demonstrate an ability to defend your response using the proper techniques of argumentation. In order to succeed in this section, you must have a powerful command of written English. Although this section isn't scored, you must bear in mind that your sample will be sent to each school that you apply to. Therefore, it is essential that you submit your best work.
How can a Portland LSAT class help prepare me?
The beauty of LSAT prep classes is that you will be given access to an environment where you can get support on topics that you may be floundering with on your own. It doesn't matter if you are an undergraduate with dreams of becoming an attorney or a seasoned professional who is looking into the possibility of obtaining a law degree, anyone who is considering law school can benefit from these classes. Once you are enrolled in the class, you can ask all the questions that have been nagging at you. Perhaps you need assistance in evaluating conditional statements. This is a topic that you will be able to discuss with your instructor and your classmates. As another example, maybe you struggle with processing long texts. Your instructor can help provide study strategies for overcoming these types of difficulties. In addition, you will be able to collaborate with classmates, who may also be able to provide you with some insight. This type of collaboration has been shown to give students a deeper understanding of the material. If you are in need of some individual instruction, you can even schedule one-on-one time with your instructor to discuss any issues that you may be struggling to understand.
Another advantage of a Portland LSAT class is that it is set up to be as convenient as possible. For instance, classes are offered in many different sections, with new sections beginning on a weekly basis. Additionally, when you enroll, you can choose between a two-week class and a four-week class. We understand that you are likely to be very busy, so this arrangement allows you to fit classes into your schedule. Also, think about the convenience of taking classes through a virtual platform. You can interact with the instructor and with other students just as you can in a traditional classroom environment. The only difference is that you don't have to go anywhere for it! All you need is access to a strong internet connection and you are good to go.
