If you are thinking about becoming a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse and plan on taking either the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) or the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) then Varsity Tutors can connect you with a Philadelphia NCLEX tutor or online course. By taking a prep course or working with a private instructor, you will be able to review some of the fundamentals and important concepts you learned at Penn Nursing, La Salle University, or any other local school in the area. By working with an instructor you attending a prep class, you can prepare yourself for exam day better than you might by studying on your own.

What concepts will be covered during Philadelphia NCLEX prep?

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. (NCSBN) develops and administers both the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN examinations. Each exam is designed to test the entry-level nursing competence of potential candidates using Computerized Adaptive Testing, or CAT. This type of test re-estimates your ability based on your previous answers. After answering each question, the computer will select the next question so that you will have a 50 percent chance of answering it correctly. That way, the computer can gather as much information as possible to assess your skill level.

The number of questions that will be asked varies per student and can range from 75 to 265 for the RN exam and 85 to 205 for the PN exam. The format of each exam may include multiple response questions, fill-in-the-blank calculations, and more, using multimedia such as charts, graphics, and videos. The RN exam is longer at about 6 hours, whereas the PM exam is 5 hours.

Considering how involved these examinations are, it is easy to see why it's important to go into exam day being as prepared as possible. A Philadelphia NCLEX prep course may be exactly what you need to review the skills you learned in nursing school. A prep course can go over topics such as physiological adaptation and health promotion and maintenance, as well as basic concepts like anatomy, physiology, and biology.

What are the benefits of different types of Philadelphia NCLEX Prep?

Varsity Tutors can set you up with two different types of prep: an online course or private tutoring. If you feel that you are more comfortable with a traditional classroom setting, then you will want to go with a Philadelphia NCLEX prep class. When you enroll in a prep class, you will attend your class using video chat and an online whiteboard via our Live Learning Platform. In this virtual class, you will have the ability to interact with your instructor as well as your classmates the same way you'd interact in a regular classroom, except you'll be in the comfort of your own home. An online class also allows you to share your ideas with your classmates and get immediate answers to questions you may have from your instructor.

If you think you would learn better with one-on-one instruction, then you can connect with a private tutor. With your instructor, you can re-learn and review nursing concepts at your own pace, addressing any weakness you have as a student along the way. By using your own academic mentor you will be able to deepen your understanding of the different concepts and topics you'll face on exam day. A private tutor can also help you with different test-taking strategies that can help you work more efficiently through your exam.

Most students feel that one method appeals to the way they learn more than the other, but if you'd like to supplement your course with individual, face-to-face instruction, you can definitely take part in both. And whether you choose to go with an online class, private instruction, or both, your prep will be led by a qualified knowledgeable instructor who is familiar with the format and content of the NCLEX.

How am I best able to set myself up for Philadelphia NCLEX Preparation?

The most valuable commodity you have is time. If you are someone who's got a busy schedule, you may not think you'll have the time for individual tutoring or a prep class. But it is important to know that there is flexible scheduling for both classes and individual instruction. If you are someone who thinks that Philadelphia NCLEX prep can help you study for your exam, then give Varsity Tutors a call.
