Work towards achieving your CFA credentials by contacting Varsity Tutors to enroll in a New York City CFA course. CFA stands for Chartered Financial Analyst. This is a credential awarded by the CFA Institute. In order to receive this credential, individuals must have a bachelor's degree or four years of professional experience in a full time job that involves making decisions about investments. Individuals must also pass a series of three CFA exams. No matter where you are in the process of taking your CFA exams, consider a New York City CFA prep course for guided learning.
What can a New York City CFA class cover?
The CFA exams are broken down into three levels. These levels are sequential, meaning students must pass each level before going on to the next one. All tests are offered by the CFA Institute annually in June. Additionally, a CFA Level I exam is given in December every year. As the levels increase, so does the difficulty of each test. Collectively, the CFA exams test a candidates' knowledge of ethics and professional standards, portfolio management and wealth planning, investment tools, and asset classes. Around the world, more than 150,000 professionals have a Chartered Financial Analyst credential. Earning this status shows that you have a strong understanding of advanced investment analysis and real-world portfolio management skills.
Level I of the CFA exams requires students to either have completed their bachelor's degree, be in their final year of college, have four years of professional full-time work experience or have a combination of college and professional experience totaling at least four years. This first level is broken up into two sessions: a morning session and an afternoon session. Both sessions are three hours in time and cover all topics through 120 multiple choice questions. There is no penalty for incorrect answers and questions are formatted as either sentence completion with three unique choices, or questions with three unique choices.
The next level of the CFA exam, Level II, asks a total of 120 multiple choice questions between two item sets. The first item set includes 18 vignettes, or case statements, with six questions each. The second item set includes three vignettes with four questions each. The structure of Level II is broken up into a morning session that asks 10 item set questions, and an afternoon session that asks 11 item set questions. Some topics are covered in the morning session only, and other topics are covered in the afternoon session only. Even though the CFA exam contents are updated every year, all three levels of this program focus on the same 10 topic areas. Some of these areas include alternative investments, portfolio management, and quantitative methods. If you need help in any of these areas, or want to grow your confidence in the knowledge you already have, think about signing up for a New York City CFA class.
The final level of the CFA exam program is Level III. At this level, test-takers are asked to participate in a morning session and an afternoon session. The morning session includes eight to 12 constructed response (essay) questions. The afternoon session asks 11 item set questions, including eight vignettes with six questions each and three vignettes with four questions each. As you prepare for any of these levels, you may be feeling nervous or overwhelmed. You can benefit from a New York City CFA class to help you focus on the areas that are causing you difficulty.
