What types of things can Miami ACT prep cover?
The ACT is comprised of four main sections, including Math, Science, Reading, and English. There is an optional Writing section as well. The time limit without the Writing section is just under three hours, in which you will complete all of the questions from the four required sections. If you choose to complete the Writing section, you will be given an additional 40 minutes. Next, we will look into each section in more detail to get an idea of the information you will need to know for the exam.
The Math section consists of 60 questions that you must complete in an hour or less. These questions will measure the skills that you have acquired through the years. You have one minute to spend on each question, so you will need to work quickly but accurately to earn your highest possible score.
The Science portion of the test has 40 questions that are multiple-choice and must be completed within 35 minutes. The questions you face on the ACT Science section will showcase your skills in reasoning, scientific analysis, and problem-solving. The topics covered in the Science section include Earth and space sciences, physics, biology, and chemistry.
Next, let's look at the Reading section, which has 40 questions and a time limit of 35 minutes. You will be given multiple passages to read. The questions that follow will deal with your comprehension of the material. This section will measure your ability to reason logically, use various sources of information to make decisions, and read a text carefully.
Finally, we will look at the English portion of the exam. In this section, 75 questions must be answered within the 45-minute time limit. Since there is such a strict time limit, you will need to move efficiently and effectively through the section as the questions are based on short text passages. Many of the questions you will be faced with will make it necessary to revise and edit the text passage. Some questions may also ask you about the passage as a whole, others about just a part of, or even about just one single sentence or a few specific words. You will need to make decisions based on the grammar, tone, and writing style of the provided reading material.
If you choose to complete the optional Writing section, you will have 40 minutes in which you must write an essay on one given topic. You will need to be able to write clearly with well-supported and developed ideas and reasoning. You will need to be able to showcase a strong grasp of English writing skills.
What are some benefits to the different kinds of Miami ACT prep?
Varsity Tutors would be happy to connect you with either private tutoring or prep courses. Each of these two study options has many benefits. You can even use a combination of both to boost your understanding of the materials on the test. Now we will discuss how Miami ACT tutoring or prep classes can make your study plan more effective.
If you are more of a traditional student, an ACT class may be just what you need. Classes are held online, but they run just as a traditional classroom does. During a Miami ACT prep class, you get to study a set curriculum that is focused on the ACT with an expert who is familiar with the format and contents of the exam. There are new classes that start every week, and you can choose either a two-week or four-week session plan.
ACT courses take place in a collaborative and interactive online environment. You will have the chance to interact with other students and your instructor while participating in group discussions and activities. If you choose to sign up for a Miami ACT course, you can also discuss concepts with your instructor in a one-on-one setting if you are having troubles with them.
If you are someone who enjoys working in a more personal environment, we can help you connect with a Miami ACT prep tutor. Working with an academic mentor gives you the chance to work with someone who can focus solely on your goals and needs. Your private mentor can get to know your academic strengths and areas you need work on, the learning method that works the best for you, and your life interests. They can use the information they learn to write custom lesson plans that cater to your needs.
