Differential Equations Tutoring review by Tamara in Midlothian, IL
I taught the student about the soft c that makes the s sound. She had to circle all the c's in a paragraph that had a soft c. Then she had to write words that have a soft c in it. She did really well with this. Then I taught her about multiplication. I started with times two facts. We drew pictures of groups of two to help her visualize what multiplication means. I also showed her how times two multiplication is similar to doubles addition facts. She then did a page in her math workbook with times two multiplication. She also practiced telling time. We worked on answering questions where she had to figure out if a movie started at 8 and it took 30 min to get to the movies, she would have to leave at 7:30. She ended with working on a page in her math book and a journal writing.

Differential Equations Tutoring review by Audrey in Midlothian, IL
The student continues to work on memorizing his multiplication facts. He are currently up through 3 x 6. He seems to be doing well in remembering a picture that goes with each fact. He also continued practicing filling in a problem solving 'map' for problems involving a multiplicative relationship, called multiplicative compare. He identified the comparison sentence and found all the appropriated details. The student completed five problems on his own. We had some time to review long division. He needs more practice with a two digit divisor problems.

The student and I reviewed some basic algebra in preparation for his algebra test tomorrow. We went back to some basics including equations such as x-2 and y=2 and what the lines for these equations would look like. We also reviewed how to find slope and y intercepts based on two points, equations or graphs. The student was pretty confident in standard y=mx+b equations.

Differential Equations Tutoring review by Shaina in Midlothian, IL
The main focus for this session was math. Some of the skills we worked on included dividing 3 digit numbers and converting measurements between centimeters and millimeters. The student seemed to really grasp both concepts and performed really well in each area. In reading, we practiced reading a passage and answering standardized type questions that went with the passage. The student did a good job of going back and rereading certain areas in the passage to make sure she accurately responded to the question. At the end of the session, I had the student respond to a writing prompt. We will continue with the writing prompt during our next session. I left reading comprehension and math for her to practice with until then.

Differential Equations Tutoring review by Chantal in Midlothian, IL
The student worked on distance, time and rate problems. We reviewed various scenarios including one where two trains were leaving from a station at the same time but traveling at different speeds. If they travel a specified distance, what is the rate of speed of each train? The student understands the formula and the concept behind it. He is able to apply the formula to the different scenarios. He also worked on his two page homework assignment solving for "n" using decimals, fractions, and whole numbers. Some of the problems had no solution. He successfully completed each of the problems.

Differential Equations Tutoring review by Douglas in Midlothian, IL
Met with the student and went over his Algebra 1 review homework for his upcoming exam. The review covered many subjects such as solving for unknown variables, determining the equation of a line in slope intercept form, and various other algebra topics. After spending some time on each section he seemed to understand how to solve all of the problems that we worked through. I recommended that he review the problems again before his exam.
