We went over logarithmic functions. The properties and laws of the logs and exponents. We worked on her review for her exam. On Tuesday the student and I met to study for her chapter 2 test in algebra. We worked on the chapter review, even problems this time. She is stayed after school to begin studying on her own so she was very prepared when we met on Tuesday. She let me know yesterday that she thinks she got no less than a 75 which is a great improvement from her first test.

We covered items from Chapter 1 for her big test. This included multiplying decimals, adding compatible numbers, and mostly dividing decimals. The student's progress is remarkable because of her confidence level in her ability to complete the problems. She is also getting a lot better in memorizing her multiplication tables.

Differential Equations Tutoring review by Katie in Joliet, IL
Today we reviewed for the student's Friday quiz on rations, proportions, and dilations. She was having some trouble with setting the proportions up so we spend part of the time reviewing this. We talked about how to know if your answer is correct with dilations based on if the shape is shrinking or growing in size and counting and comparing the units of side lengths of the original and dilated shape to prove our answer was correct. We completed the textbook review for the sections on Friday's quiz. We reviewed mean and median for the assessment test and she nailed it! We reviewed elapsed time word problems and scientific notation.

Differential Equations Tutoring review by Christopher in Joliet, IL
The student and I began the session by talking about basic trigonometric functions; sine, cosine, and tangent, and operations with right triangles using these functions. After a couple intro problems, he seemed to get the concepts down rather nicely, even when involving the inverse functions of each. We then moved on by going into the next section dealing with coordinate geometry. I introduced him to the general formulas for parabolas and circles, and how one can create a formula for each using particular points on the circles or parabolas. This again he also seemed to understand well. I'm happy to see he is doing well on his tests, and I'm looking forward to next week!

Differential Equations Tutoring review by Kelly in Joliet, IL
The student and I worked on complex numbers. Specifically we worked on reducing a term with complex numbers. We then worked on solving for the zeros of a quadratic equation where the zeros were complex. We worked on solving more quadratic equations of higher degrees. She is really catching on. She was doing very well solving quadratic equations of degree two. Next time we will work on the higher degrees more.
