Varsity Tutors can prepare students to take college admission exams by helping them find dependable Cincinnati ACT preparation. Many high school juniors are thinking about the college application process, even though college is more than a year away. You may need to take one of the two most widely accepted college admission exams as you begin filling out applications. One of these exams is the ACT, and the majority of students in Cincinnati, like those attending either Walnut Hills High School or Elder High School, choose this test. Your ACT score is one of the factors colleges look at when deciding to admit you into their school. Admission into the right college is not only important for your future career but it's also important you do your best on this exam.

The ACT consists of five sections and is a comprehensive test. Whether you have just begun your college preparation or have already started, you may be wondering how you can review for this test. Varsity Tutors can help you connect with a Cincinnati ACT tutor if you are a student thinking about needing the extra help. You may also consider taking a Cincinnati ACT prep course. We can help you find a course that fits into your busy schedule. We can also help you decide which of these options will work in your best interest.

What can Cincinnati ACT prep cover?

The ACT is made up of four sections, which include Reading, English, Science, and Math. You also have the option to take a Writing section. If you don't take the Writing section, you will have about three hours to answer the questions in the other four sections. You will add 40 extra minutes if you take the Writing part. Let's take a look at each section of the test so you can get a better feel for what the ACT is about.

For the Reading section, you will be given several passages to read. You will have 40 questions to answer in 35 minutes. These questions use your comprehension skills and measures how you can use multiple sources and information to make a decision, how closely you can read a text, and how well you can use logic and reasoning when reading a text.

Next is the English section. You will have several short passages to read so you will have to work in an efficient way. Some of the questions will cover the passage as a whole while others will look at just sections of the passage. Some questions may just cover a few words or a single sentence. Many of the questions will ask you to edit and revise different parts of the text. This section is based on tone, grammar, usage, and writing style. You will have 75 questions to answer in 45 minutes.

The Science section is another part of the ACT. You will have 35 minutes to answer 45 multiple-choice questions based on the passages. This part of the exam measures such skills as reasoning, problem-solving, and scientific analysis. You will need to know the following sciences: physics, Earth and space sciences, biology, and chemistry.

The final part is the Math section. You will have 60 questions to answer in one hour so you will need to work quickly to be sure and answer all of the questions. This section measures all of the math you have learned while in school, such as algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.

If you decide to take the optional writing section, you will have 40 minutes to write an essay on one topic. You will develop a clearly written essay with supporting ideas and reasoning. This essay measures your written English and how well you can organize your ideas in a clear and logical way.

What are the benefits of different types of Cincinnati ACT prep?

Varsity Tutors can offer you two ways to review for the ACT: private tutoring and prep courses. Each of these has its own benefits, and students utilize both methods as their review. Let's take a look at how Cincinnati tutoring can help you be better prepared for the ACT.

We can help you connect with a Cincinnati ACT prep instructor if you prefer one-on-one tutoring. When you work with a private instructor, you can focus on your own academic needs. Your instructor can understand your academic strengths and challenges as well as your learning styles in a better way.

With tutoring, you can focus more on what you need the most help with. For example, a tutor can show you how to read an essay question and give you pointers on how to organize and write your response. Maybe you struggle with some types of math problems. Your academic mentor can show you different techniques on how to answer the problems.

Another option is a Cincinnati ACT prep class. These ACT classes take place in a virtual online environment, which is much like a regular classroom. Each week new sessions begin so you'll have no trouble getting started at any time. You can choose between either a two-week session or a four-week session. Instructors go through a rigorous interview process.

During a class, you can chat with other students and your tutor. You will have discussions and participate in group activities, which can help you increase the skills you need to take the exam. With this option, you will have the chance to talk about concepts you don't understand with an instructor in a one-on-one setting.
