For this session, we started by working on some practice problems involving manipulation of exponential equations and expressions. Then we moved on to continuous and annually compounding interest problems. We finished by working on graphing exponential functions. Next week we will make sure to touch on trig functions for geometry, and I will bring a dynamic graphing software representation of an exponential function to explore for algebra II.

We prepared for the student's upcoming exam by reviewing all questions on test four and areas that gave him some trouble from exam three. The topics covered involved simplifying exponential expressions, manipulating equations, finding the domain for functions, and inverse functions. He should write out all steps when solving a problem.

In this session with the student, we focused on calculus. We discussed topics dealing with the conversion of position, velocity, and acceleration, and how to use derivatives and integrals to convert between them. Also, we discussed the difference between displacement and total distance traveled. We looked over his notes for review and also completed homework problems.

As I expected the student's class went from ratios to percentages. I had her draw grids to illustrate what certain percentages "looked like" and had her do exercises that showed her how ratios and percentages and decimals related. We also did homework. As usual, she worked hard.
