What are some of the topics a Virginia Beach USMLE prep course can cover?

The United States Medical Licensing Exam, or USMLE, is made up of three different exams called "Steps." You are required to pass Step 1 and Step 2 to become eligible for Step 3.

In Step 1, there are 280 questions divided into seven 60-minute blocks with 40 questions each. The questions test you on basic science subjects like biochemistry, pathology, behavioral science, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.

Step 2 has two sections that include a mix of multiple choice questions and practical cases where you need to examine and diagnose actors posing as patients. The first section is called Clinical Knowledge (CK), and you will need to answer 316 multiple-choice questions designed to check your abilities in the scientific principles needed to practice medicine in a supervised environment. The second section is called Clinical Skills (CS), and you will need to address 12 patient cases. You are given 15 minutes to examine each patient and another 10 minutes to write each patient's notes.

Step 3 also has two separate sections. It is the last step in the USMLE. The first section has about 230 multiple-choice questions, while the second section has about 180 multiple-choice questions and 13 computer-based patient care simulations. You are given a maximum of 10 or 20 minutes of time for each simulation.

Besides the content of the exam, your Virginia Beach USMLE class instructor can also teach you useful tips and test-taking techniques that can help you efficiently answer the questions in each Step. Unlike other standardized tests, the USMLE assesses your ability to apply knowledge to practical, real-life clinical settings. Your instructor can talk about some of the best ways to approach a test like the USMLE.
