Tutoring review by Samantha in Zionsville, IN
The student did very well in his session yesterday evening. We spent the time creating an outline for a Document Based Question essay in his Global Studies class, which prompts students to create a thesis about the Bubonic Plague based on a series of primary documents. She was very proficient in his analysis of the documents individually, and we worked together to draw conclusions that viewed them together. He continues to improve his analytical skills, and I'd like to work up to him being able to write persuasive theses on his own. I'm very pleased with his progress and enthusiasm thus far and I look forward to seeing him next week!

Concepts covered were pre-algebra terms (she needs help as well with multiplication and division as well as addition), and subtraction of negative and positive integers. She has a great attitude and is able to tell me what she needs with math review. Saturday we will continue material plus add a little bit more of pre-algebra material. She is a hard worker!

Tutoring review by Saibu in Zionsville, IN
In this session we went over the materials for the student's quiz on Thursday. The quiz will be on radicals and expanding binomials. Along with going over the problems, I also assigned her a few problems of my own to help her with the understanding. As always, I left her with notes, formulas, and done problems. She got an A on the assignment she did in the previous class.

The student and I worked on logarithms and matrices, and word problems in exponential functions. He was very proactive trying to find the solutions out for himself and asked for help when he got stuck.

We covered the relative pronouns "qui" and "que" - their equivalents in English, when to use one versus the other, and how to use them in a sentence. Then, we covered agreement with past participles using "avoir" when the direct object comes before the verb.

The student and I reviewed a chemistry test that he had taken. The test was over redox reactions, predicting reaction products, half reactions, and electron transfers. He will have the chance to retake the test to replace the original grade. He is much better prepared for the test now and will likely perform much better on the retest.
