Tutoring review by Samuel in Stockbridge, GA
The student and I prepared for his geometry test tomorrow. We worked on right triangles, the 30-60-90 triangle theorem, and the 45-45-90 triangle theorem. While at first he did not seem to know the material at all, I realized that he is a fast learner, once he's shown what to do. He was proficient at solving triangles and using trigonometry to figure out angles and sides of right triangles. He seemed confident by the end of the session. I had him redo his review sheet in order to prepare for the test tonight.

Today we covered trigonometry. These were new concepts to cover. I think the student has the basic foundation for the material. I recommended that she memorize the unit circle. This will help her in all future trigonometry. We also reviewed some past quizzes. I noticed that the student struggled on concepts we've covered in the past. Some concepts including multiplying and dividing exponents and the rules that accompany them. I recommend that the student remember these rules so she is better prepared for the exam. This doesn't go without saying that she does have a lot of the foundations down. Many of her errors were just minor math errors. This is just a matter of taking a little more time. All-in-all, the student is doing ok. I think memorizing the key concepts will help her though. Next week I will see how she is doing with the unit circle. I'm confident that the current chapter will not cause too much difficulty for her. As always, the student is a pleasure to work with, and quite eager to understand the mathematical concepts.

Tutoring review by Matjaz in Stockbridge, GA
We covered compounded interest calculations for the test Thursday. (Interest compounded continuously, annually, or in shorter intervals.) We did several exercises on that topic. Then we did several word problems involving exponential decay and exponential growth differential equations. The student was comfortable with the solution of differential equations by separating variables. I showed him a shortcut to the result in case the derivative of the function is proportional to the function itself. This strategy could help finish the exam faster and more accurately, if the student practices it further before Thursday. The student's attitude was that of interest and attention. Extra practice includes doing the even exercises from the text. Toward the end of the session, the student's confidence was visibly increased as it pertains to the last chapter 6.4 that will still be included in the test. Student will likely need more tutoring for more complicated Calculus subjects going forward.

Tutoring review by James in Stockbridge, GA
The student had homework covering exponential functions. He worked on that homework and went through the different formulas and when to use each one. We he felt comfortable with the topic we looked ahead to the next section. We worked on his next section covering simplifying radicals. By the time we were done, he seemed to have a good grasp on the concepts.

Tutoring review by Joe in Stockbridge, GA
During these two sessions, we reviewed long division and studied for the final exam. For the final exam, we reviewed factoring, completing the square, using the quadratic formula, finding roots, doing long division, doing synthetic division, radicals, exponents, circles, and logarithms. I advised the student to look over the review sheets I had given him throughout the semester before the exam, and to review the log rules in particular. I told him that he could text with any last-minute questions. The exam is tomorrow. Good luck!
