Recent Monroe Tutoring Session Notes

Tutoring review by Rasa in Monroe, WA
We worked on ELA for most of the session. The student was still working on her story and wrote another chapter while I was there. Then we moved on to fifth and sixth grade state test prep booklets from her school and she was able to complete those with little to no help from me. Then we went back to her essay and began to edit the chapter she wrote. She struggles with moving her ideas towards a main goal in her story, but we will work on that next week when she has finished her story.

Tutoring review by Benjamin in Monroe, WA
The student asked his professor for her lecture schedule since we they are not going straight through the book. Today we went over section 1.3 which introduced column vectors and the properties of their operations, as well as introducing the idea of linear combinations of column vectors in conjunction with spanning sets. I then focused on the questions he had from his class on spanning sets, finding zero vectors, and the idea of linear independence until he felt confident that he understood these topics.

Tutoring review by Jordan in Monroe, WA
The student and I continued to work on calculating hitters' value in recent seasons. The math aspect is within his ability, but where he is gaining the most is in terms of thinking creatively and applying it to real life situations, in particular, to a subject he's interested in.

Tutoring review by Morenike in Monroe, WA
The student is understanding each new lesson faster and better than before. I also think her confidence with math has greatly improved. I was able to teach her how to find percent of change and how to use a table or pictograph to answer questions. We began discussing how to find the probability of a outcome as a fraction, decimal and percent. We will continue to work on it on Friday. We are a third done with her GED training, so we have set a tentative goal of taking the test for May 18th.
