Tutoring review by Bailey in Hunters Creek Village, TX
Today was my first meeting with the student. We discussed where she felt she was having difficulty and where she felt she had a pretty good grasp of things. We also looked through some of her graded exams and discussed the answers she got wrong as well as how to correctly solve those problems. The student has been having the most difficulty in determining how to set up permutations and combinations, as opposed to solving the problems with the more general methods of probability used previously. Her grasp of algebra is fantastic. Where she keeps running into issues is in the tiny details of solving a problem (e.g. negative signs, cancelling fully, common denominators, etc.). We also had a chance to look through some of her chemistry work as well today. We discussed some helpful methods of drawing Lewis dot structures for compounds we had never seen before, as well as how to determine their enthalpy of formation according to their bonds. We finished the day with a few practice problems of determining a reaction's enthalpy from rearranging the known enthalpies of other reactions. We will be covering these problems in our sessions.

Tutoring review by Amber in Hunters Creek Village, TX
The student and I reviewed completing the square, solving proportions, solving radical equations, and using the quadratic formula to solve quadratic equations. The student does well with each subject, but does still need practice completing the square and using the quadratic formula. He has his final exam review sheet, that provides extra practice problems. Another idea is for him to retry some of the problems on his review sheet (cover his previous work), in order to ensure he understands each concept for his final exam.

Tutoring review by Terry in Hunters Creek Village, TX
The student had called me on Friday after last Thursday's session with questions about the linear equation/graphing work we had covered in the session. We began with that today and thoroughly discussed and practiced working back and forth on tables, graphs, slope calculations, and the slope-y intercept form of equations. By end of session, she said she understood much better. She has links to practice, and we will review again in our next session tomorrow.
