Tutoring review by Kiera in Garner, NC
We continued to work on completing the square, factoring, and graphing parabolas. I also added in information about factoring cubic functions and some special situation square functions. The student is showing good progress, but she just needs to memorize techniques. We are going over the material quickly so as soon as I remind her of things, she remembers, so more practice and memorization is necessary. However, I think things are progressing well and we will move on from parabolas into the other work soon.

Tutoring review by Richard in Garner, NC
I worked with Student A on the place values of decimal numbers. He completed all his homework in 45 minutes. I had a great first session with Student B. She worked on her homework and it involved solving proportions using either the multiplication property of equality or the cross-product property. We moved on to her science homework. It involved finding the percentages of different minerals in a rock sample. She did very well with this.

The student and I reviewed subtraction with borrowing and he knew some but had to be reminded to borrow several times, so we went over this concept and will continue to do so until he needs no more reminders to borrow. We covered addition and multiplication as well. He did well on addition, but needed a reminder on how to carry. He is just starting to learn his multiplication tables so we reviewed 1's, 5's and 10's with strategies for learning these. We worked on the concept of estimation as well. He read a book for me and had to decide if it was easy, just right, or too difficult. He decided that it was just right. We discussed vocabulary words and comprehension as he read.

Tutoring review by Padraic in Garner, NC
The student and I began our session with a review of the preterit vs. imperfect, as well as some exercises involving some verb and vocab review. He did an excellent job working through the exercise to select and conjugate the appropriate tense, and even when he couldn't recall an irregular conjugation he recognized that the verb should be irregular and was able to review the correct forms for each pronoun. We finished our session with some listening exercises, going through clips of native speakers line by line to translate and comprehend the material.

Tutoring review by Jennifer in Garner, NC
We continued going over the student's Unit 8 test on vectors. We reviewed magnitude and direction and how, in general, we can use the law of cosines to find the magnitude of the resultant vector and the law of sines to help find the direction of the resultant. We also broke down a vector into its vertical and horizontal components. We've completed this unit, but we can return to review the concepts so she has a complete understanding and can recall the material. We moved onto the next unit on polar coordinates and graphs. She did well on graphing polar coordinates and functions. I asked her to review the next section on converting between polar and rectangular coordinates since she understood all of the previous material.
