Trigonometry Tutoring review by Michael in Austin, TX
The student asked me to review an old test with her. She was fairly happy with her grade (B), but was frustrated by two problems because she didn't know how to approach them. I walked her through them step by step and told her that there were multiple ways each problem could be approached, although some solutions were more elegant than others. She appreciated my insight and I confirmed her understanding of my approaches by having her redo the problems independently, which she did beautifully. We continued to her homework in the current chapter. We did some tedious problems using her graphing calculator and solved some trig identity problems by hand. Aside from minor computational errors, she did very well. She has good math instincts, has a solid understanding of the fundamentals of trig, and has newfound confidence. The student and I both feel that she is capable of getting A's on future tests.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Alexi in Austin, TX
Tonight I worked with the student to help her prepare or a rest on vectors. I could tell that she has been practicing with the unit circle table I gave her. She was much faster at transforming trig functions. Also, we corrected a minor communication error that made a huge difference in my effectiveness as the student's tutor. Then we worked on the different ways a vector can expressed, key vocabulary, and problem/ solution recognition. I think she feels more confident now, and she has a better grasp of the concepts she struggled with on the test, so hopefully she will display her knowledge better on the retake.

The student and I covered the following topics: trigonometric functions (sin, cos, tan, CSC, sec, COT), converting between degrees and radians, solving properties of triangles using trig functions (angles and side lengths), arc length and understanding the unit circle. We completed chapter 13 sections 1 and 2 and most of section 3. He understands how to solve for sides and angles using trig identities.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Samuel in Austin, TX
We covered the definition of sin, cos, and tan. We started from the Soh-Cah-Toa definition and fit it into the unit circle definition. The student is having some trouble with the algebra of logarithms so on Tuesday I will focus on those with her and see what else needs attention. We also reviewed trig identities and I showed her where many of the basic ones come from.

Worked on assignments dealing with manipulations of trig identities and some chemistry homework dealing with the introduction of the ideal gas law. The student's command of each subject seems to be improving with every session.
