I'll be graduating next spring from Pace University with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in East Asian Studies, concentration in Japanese language and culture. I've traveled all over the world, studying in Tokyo, living in Switzerland and Costa Rica. Not only do I have a love for Biology, but a love for every science. I hope to start a Masters of Science abroad in the following fall. Humans are so lucky to have a capacity for reason, so we can explore the infinite content of the universe. I love to draw out that love for learning in students, even ones who seem to feel discouraged or insecure in their lack of understanding. All people have a capacity to learn everything from classical composition to theoretical physics. It's only a matter of perseverance and teamwork between tutors and students.

I believe all students are capable of learning. They all do not learn at the same rate, but with different methods and strategies, it is possible. Students should not be thought of as mindless individuals just waiting to be filled with knowledge by their teachers.Quite the opposite; students should be viewed as individuals who can contribute to the classroom, sharing and gaining knowledge from each other. Students need guidance and not just lectures only. Education is not solely academic; the teacher must also educate his students mentally by teaching them the skills needed to solve problems and socially by teaching them the skills needed to communicate and work productively with others. From Resume:- High School Social Studies/Technology Teacher- Social Studies/Language Arts Teacher- Middle School Technology/Math Integration Teacher- ESL

As a New York City Educator, I strive to cultivate and establish an environment wherein each student can reach his or her highest academic potential. After being awarded a Bachelor's of Science, with Latin honors, in Biology at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, I continued my education Pace University's School of Education. After teaching in middle school science in Harlem, NY for two years, I graduated from Pace with my Masters of Science in Adolescent Education. Throughout college, I have tutored and mentored elementary school, middle school, high school, and college level students in various topics. These topics range from multiple biological disciplines, various concepts in mathematics, and English language arts skills. I am most passionate about middle- and elementary school-level mathematics, English language arts, and science because the concepts are dynamic and relational. The diversity of the material allows students to make meaningful connections to the content, cultivating long-lasting understandings of the material. While tutoring, I tend to follow an inquiry-based model wherein students are consistently questioned throughout the tutoring process. While providing the students with meaningful resources that are tailored to their specific needs and learning styles, I attempt to create connections between the content, process, and student. Because students tend to struggle in mathematics and science, I enjoy making these concepts transparent, fun, easy to understand and remember. When I am not teaching or tutoring, I enjoy coaching my middle school Step and Basketball Teams, in addition to taking these students on trips and retreats. With your child's specific learning needs as the foundation of my platform, I hope to establish a professional and meaningful environment conducive to your child's academic and social success.

By using informal and formal screeners along with pre assessments - I will always have a map of where to take any tutoring session.Having an academic and practical elementary/middle school application understanding of data definitely enforces corrective instruction, reteaching, or content enrichment that will occur.I have also worked a great deal with middle school students in pilot programs that center around blended and asynchronous learning.I am entering my 6th year as an elementary/middle school teacher. I graduated high school with an IB Diploma in the spring of 2018. I am immensely involved in learning the French language and I greatly enjoy teaching students the ins-and-outs of French pronunciation and vocabulary! Over the past four years, I took rigorous IB French courses, skipped level three French, participated in international French-immersion camps, passed the AP French four exam with a score of "five," and took the Higher Level IB French five exam. Furthermore, I have participated in the state-wide Texas French Symposium Competition for the past three years, and have won numerous awards, including winning first place in the state in level five prose and sight reading, and second place in the state in level five guided speaking! In addition to being enamored with the French language, I harbor enjoyment for the playing the Viola, which I have been playing for over seven and a half years. I expanded my propensity in teaching students how to play string instruments by participating in the United Sound Program where I had to work with specifically selected orchestra peers to teach special-needs students how to play string instruments. Furthermore, I am very good in history, have honed my studying skills, and can fluently speak and read Italian! I am very organized and have a knack for aiding learners.
