For 15 years I have served elementary through university-level students in the classroom and as a part-time tutor. There is so much to learn and explore in the Spanish language and I'm looking forward to exploring Spanish with you.

I believe that art is for everyone, and the most important part is to have fun and enjoy it! My philosophy is to build a solid foundation of drawing skills and help a student achieve their artistic goals. I love seeing a student grow in their creative skills and create work they are proud of.

One of my main passions in life is working with other people to solve difficult problems and develop better strategies for making educational institutions work best for them. I've been lucky enough to do this in numerous settings, whether it be as a teacher, counselor, or tutor, and with very diverse populations from many different parts of the U.S. I spend much of my personal time reading and writing, and love talking to and learning from others' interests and abilities in these areas. While I'm currently working on a PhD in Psychology, my interests are really interdisciplinary, which includes thinking about big philosophical questions as well as learning about recent innovations in science and technology. Being raised on a farm in Missouri, I've always had a strong interest in math and science. I especially liked the applied side of things. The "bean in a cup" experiment in elementary school grew into a hobby greenhouse as a teenager providing my family with vegetables for the table. It went on to grow into a full time family business which helped put me through college. The practical experience I got with all of this was invaluable. With more of a hands on approach, applied science and math allows you to take what you think you learned in class and see it in action in real life experiences. The experiences allow better integration of abstract concepts into reality, concreting what you know and leaving you with a desire to find out more.I attended college at Northwest Missouri State University and received a B.S. in ACS-accredited Chemistry in 2008. I have therefore had a lot of chemistry, including organic and p-chem as well as algebra, trig, geometry and multi-variate calculus. While I was a tutor for the Chemistry/Physics department (and asked to tutor College Lit and Bio labs) I actually had several classes in biology and agribusiness that led me to my graduate work at Arizona State. I am currently finishing up my PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology with emphasis on microalgal cultivation. I have a wide array of interests and enjoy spending time outdoor hiking and mountain biking.Overall, I'd say I'm a natural born problem solver. I love solving problems, especially abstract ones requiring creativity and imagination. I think it is the challenge of pulling from all of your life experiences and knowledge to come up with a solution that works. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elem.Ed./Early Childhood from Northwest Missouri State University. Three years later I obtained my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from William Woods University. Later that same year, I received my certification in Special Education grades K-12.Over the last 20 years, I have taught/worked with all grades K-12. I have taught in both public and private schools, and I am currently teaching in a residential therapeutic school. I definitely enjoy new challenges and working with a wide variety of students!Although I love working with all students, I am most passionate about working with elementary/middle school students who are struggling in the areas of math, reading/writing, and language. I am currently an undergraduate at Northwest Missouri State University. I am a mathematics major with computer science and economics minors. My two passions in life are God and mathematics. I graduated in May of 2020 from Creighton with my DPT. Prior to physical therapy school, I attended Northwest Missouri State University and received my B.S. in both biology and psychology. I've always loved helping others, thus leading me into the field of physical therapy! Throughout my undergraduate and graduate studies, I've always found joy in helping other students as it benefits us both. My tutoring style definitely focuses on the reasoning of how you got to the answer rather than if you got the right answer. Many of my exercises are very situation based (as in "a patient with x,y,and z walks into your clinic...what do you do?").

I graduated from Emporia State University with a teaching degree in mathematics and six years later completed my masters at Northwest Missouri State University in School Computer Studies. For 15 years I taught junior high and/or high school math as well as teaching adults beginning computer skills through a community college. My favorite class to teach is algebra II since I have enjoyed watching students take the skills they learned in algebra I and geometry and apply those to further their math education. It is my belief that almost all students can master the skills necessary to complete the math courses needed for high school graduation. I am patient and willing to work on skills with students until they understand them and able to use them in their coursework successfully.

I have been an IB Biology teacher for the last 6 years. Prior to that I trained as a cellular/molecular biologist studying the skin and hair responses to chemotherapies and the molecular mechanisms of mitosis. I earned my Ph.D in 2012 and completed 2 postdoctoral fellowships. I have chosen teaching as a profession because of the relationships I make with my students and the joy that comes from seeing them discover the same love for science that I have.

I am a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University. I received a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Mathematics. I have been teaching in Missouri and Nebraska for the past 20 years. Currently, I am teaching Chemistry, Physical Science and throughout the summer I teach Middle School Math and Pre-Algebra.
