About Me

I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in English from Northwest Missouri State University. I am passionate about providing effective teaching and meaningful learning experiences to students of all ages! I enjoy tutoring students in a wide variety of subjects including English, literature, writing, and statistics. I most enjoy helping student with their writing skills. I find it rewarding when I am able to help the student connect his or her thoughts and voice to their writing. In my spare time, I enjoy connecting with nature and reading to gain knowledge.

Helping students to be engaged and excited about their studies is important! I've found that making connections with the content and what the student is interested in outside the classroom, they will be more motivated to work on more difficult tasks. What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material? To make sure a student fully understands a topic, I use open-ended questions based on Bloom's Taxonomy of learning objectives to judge where their thinking is. If a student can remember, understand, and apply their knowledge, they will be better able to move forward.
