We went over the exam ("quiz") that the student had just gotten back. There were a few conceptual issues that we went over, but largely he lost points for stylistic reasons. We talked about picking up on clues to what answers the professor wanted (a column left blank in a table, a phrase in quotations where the prof wanted the official term for the technique). We talked about concepts that had been covered since that exam (FRET, GFP structure, upcoming antibodies) and discussed potentially changing meeting times to Sundays (right before the "quizzes" on Mondays). We will do more organic chemistry mechanisms in the future, to make sure that the skills remain fresh for upcoming questions.

The student and I talked about chemical equilibrium. We mostly went over the K equilibrium constants. We went over what the K equilibrium means and how to relate Kp and Kc. The concept of Le Chatelier's was also discussed, and how to apply it to chemical equations. He understood all the concepts we talked about at the end of our session and said that if he had any questions, he would email me.
