How can Science tutoring help you succeed?

Science is the basic study of how our world works, and your student might be taking science courses all throughout their time in school. When they are young, it is important to encourage in them their natural sense of wonder about the world around them, and that's what a good science teacher may do. But even better than a good teacher, which your child is not assured of getting, is a one-on-one tutor who may work to your child's interests, skills, and goals, and help them learn to love science as a fun, engaging topic. Call the Varsity Tutors educational directors in Spokane to find an expert science tutor today.

Let Varsity Tutors find a professional science tutor in Spokane, WA, to try to help your child excel in their course. In addition to the intrinsic benefits of understanding science, there is the need for your student to do well in their class. That might not happen with all the kids in the class vying for time with the teacher. Your child may have a question, but be drowned out by other children's questions, or simply the teacher's need to move on to the next topic according to their syllabus. But personalized science instruction in Spokane, WA, may allow your child to develop a rapport with their tutor to facilitate the learning process. They may feel comfortable asking questions that they may have hesitated to ask in front of a whole class for fear of looking bad in front of their friends. But with their tutor, they may be comfortable, and begin to feel much more confident in themselves, being willing to take a risk of being wrong, only to enjoy the more and more frequent times when they are actually right because their tutor has led them painlessly to the necessary knowledge.

Session Summaries by Science Tutors

Science Tutoring review by Rikke in Spokane, WA
Following up on our last session, we continued to work on stoichiometry and molarity; the student practiced balancing equations (better!), finding mole ratios, and using molar masses to convert between moles and grams. He still seems to struggle somewhat with figuring out which equations to use, so I stressed in particular the need to include units in all calculations as a simple means of double-checking his results. We also went over the concept of limiting reagents and worked through a problem where he had to deduce the limiting reactant from the mole ratio and given masses of each reagent. He then had to calculate the maximum amount of each product that could be formed from the reaction and how much of the non-limiting reagent was in excess after the reaction had run to completion. Encouraged by his teacher, we agreed that I will continue to bring extra practice problems on stoichiometry until he is comfortable with all the necessary concepts and equations, as well as supplementary materials on the upcoming topics of pH, pOH, and precipitation.

Science Tutoring review by Thomas in Spokane, WA
We went over material pertaining to solubility of insoluble products. Using the Ksp we were able to solve for the solubility. Using the solubility we were able to solve for the Ksp. Also using the molar mass you can convert between the density and molarity, all depending on what they ask you. Mainly, this is identical to any other equilibrium problem, except that the reactant is solid and therefore is not included in the equilibrium equation.
