If you are looking for additional insight into the LSAT, Varsity Tutors can get you connected with excellent Salt Lake City LSAT prep. If you are looking at an area law school, such as the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, chances are you are already thinking about how to face the Law School Admission Test, or LSAT. As this is the only exam that all ABA-accredited and Canadian common-law law schools accept for admissions purposes, it is important that you perform to the best of your abilities.
The four sections of the LSAT are specifically designed to assess how successful you could be in law school. Each section will test skills that you should have learned throughout your years in school. Wherever you happen to be in your LSAT review, you may be wondering how to make the most of the study time you have left before your exam. With the choice between enrolling in a prep course or working with a private tutor, Varsity Tutors can get you set up with the right Salt Lake City LSAT preparation option to help you reach for your top potential.
What can Salt Lake City LSAT prep help with?
The four sections of the LSAT include Reading Comprehension, Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Writing. You will complete the LSAT on a digital tablet, which offers features including a timer with a five-minute warning and the ability to flag questions to go back and check later. The Writing section is administered separately from the rest of the exam through a secure online testing platform. You will have one year from your test date to complete the unscored Writing section.
The Reading Comprehension section gives you 35 minutes to complete questions that will assess your reading and understanding skills of long-form, complex passages. The questions may ask you the main idea or purpose of the text, stated information or information that could be inferred, the meaning of words or phrases as they are used in the context, or the structure of the passage. You will also want to have a firm grasp on the principles that function in text, how to apply information from a selection to a new context, analogies, and how to read an author's tone and attitude.
Next, you will have 35 minutes for the Analytical Reasoning section. These problems will challenge your ability to consider facts and rules and determine what could or must be true, given those facts and rules. The questions are passage-based and will ask you to understand a structure of relationships and draw conclusions about that structure, given what you know. You will want to have an excellent comprehension of the basic structure of set stated relationships and be able to determine a complete solution to the problem you are presented with in correlation to these relationships.
The final scored portion is Logical Reasoning, which contains two sections of questions that you will have 70 minutes to complete. This part of the exam will focus on argument completion, analysis, and evaluation. The content for these arguments could come from newspapers, magazines, advertisements, or other publications. Recognizing the relationships and parts of an argument, drawing well-supported conclusions, reasoning by analogy, identifying flaws in arguments, and determining how additional evidence can affect an argument will all be important concepts to know for these sections.
Though the Writing section is unscored, copies will still be sent for review to each law school that you choose to apply. You will be presented with a problem and asked to choose between two positions or courses of action. You will need to present a strong defense for your choice to showcase your argumentative writing skills. Your reasoning, clarity, organization, writing mechanics, and language usage will all be assessed here.
Which type of Salt Lake City LSAT prep will be the right fit for me?
Varsity Tutors can get you connected with LSAT prep courses or a private tutor. Both of these options are very effective and each offers its own unique benefits. You may find that a combination of both is the right choice for you. Let's take a look into what makes these Salt Lake City LSAT prep options so beneficial.
If you are interested in attending a Salt Lake City LSAT prep course, Varsity Tutors can help you find the right one to fit into your busy schedule. There are new courses that begin weekly and you have the option of a two- or four-week session. These courses are held in a virtual classroom, led by an expert instructor, and will cover a well-rounded curriculum on each subject presented in the LSAT.
The interactive and collaborative environment of a Salt Lake City LSAT prep class gives you the opportunity to learn new study skills while you participate in group discussions and activities. You will have the ability to ask questions to the group or meet with your instructor if you would like some additional one-on-one time to clarify more difficult concepts. These classes allow you to gain valuable insight into each section and concept that will be presented on the exam in a familiar classroom setting.
If you feel that a more personalized review would be more beneficial, we can get you connected with a Salt Lake City LSAT tutor. When you work with your own personal instructor, you have the ability to focus solely on your goals. Maybe you need a more in-depth discussion on the Analytical Reasoning section or you would like some additional assistance on working within the set time limits. Your private tutor can take the time you need for these concepts, while not spending extra time working on sections that you already feel confident in. Your instructor also has the ability to get to know your strengths and challenges and can customize a lesson plan to work with your learning style.
How can I be connected with Salt Lake City LSAT prep?
Whether you feel a course or private tutor is the right fit for you or if you are unsure of which prep method would be best, Varsity Tutors is happy to help. I tutor the LSAT because I know it's a hard test and I know what it's like to struggle with it. However I also understand the process necessary to produce better scores, and nothing is more satisfying to me than helping someone achieve what seemed impossible a few months ago.... Your score is a product of so many factors--your understanding of the material, your speed, even how accurately you bubble answers--but in the end it all comes down to whether you studied the test from every angle and put in the time necessary to get the results you want.
