We'd love to get you started with your own ideal SAT preparation supplement in the Miami area. Keep reading to get a better idea of what's covered on the SAT and what we can do to help you prepare for it.
What's tested on the SAT?
The SAT was designed with the purpose of assessing how prepared high school students are to continue on with their education at the collegiate level of study. With that purpose in mind, the exam is split into three required sections and one optional Essay section. The required sections focus on Math, Reading, and Writing and Language. This means that to do well on the SAT you'll need to have a strong test preparation process that covers a wide variety of subject areas.
The SAT's section on Math features 58 multiple-choice questions and has a time limit of 80 minutes. It's actually split into two sections, one of which allows test-takers to use a calculator and one that does not. The exam section goes over some of the most important math topics that you would've studied while in high school. This includes things like introductory advanced mathematics, algebra, and data analysis, among other topics.
Next, you'll also need to complete the Reading section of the SAT. This part of the test is composed of 52 questions and has a time limit of 65 minutes. This part of the exam asks test-takers to read a series of written passages and then to answer questions based on the content of those passages. You'll be asked to read things that focus on topics like history, social studies, science, and science, among other things. You'll need to demonstrate an ability to understand what you've read, analyze it, and understand different aspects of the passages on a deep level.
Finally, the last required section of the SAT focuses on Writing and Language. This part of the test has 44 multiple-choice questions and you'll have a maximum of 35 minutes to complete it. This part of the exam also asks students to read a number of passages and answer questions based on them. However, some of the passages in this section will also include things like charts, graphs, and tables. So you'll need to develop a different set of skills to do well on the Writing and Language part of the SAT.
Lastly, Varsity Tutors can also help you prepare for the Essay section if you decide you want to complete it. Here, you'll need to demonstrate a strong set of writing skills. You'll be asked to read a prompt and a short passage and then you'll need to analyze what you've read in the written form. You'll earn a score ranging from 6 to 24 points for your essay and will have 50 minutes to complete it.
How can Miami SAT preparation provided by Varsity Tutors help you get ready for your exam?
Varsity Tutors offers two main options for SAT preparation assistance. You could sign up to take a Miami SAT prep course or to work with a private instructor. Both of these choices can supplement your study sessions in different ways. Below, you'll get a more detailed look at how you may benefit from signing up for one of these test preparation resources.
If you're someone who has enjoyed the traditional classroom learning environment in the past, then taking a Miami SAT prep class could be right for you. Classes take place online through a live virtual platform that replicates the classroom experience. You'll learn from an experienced instructor who will deliver a series of lectures to you and a group of classmates. You can interact with your classmates as well which may further enhance your test preparation experience.
You can even sign up to work with your course instructor in a one-on-one setting if you need more help with a difficult topic. This ensures that if you ever feel like you're falling behind in your course, you can easily get the assistance you need to catch up quickly. There are a number of course options that you can sign up for and new courses start weekly. That means that taking a Miami SAT prep course is an option for even those students who already have a busy schedule.
Or, perhaps you would prefer to work with a Miami SAT tutor. This is a good option for students who value working directly with their educator throughout the entirety of their test preparation process. You and your tutor can meet together for one-on-one study sessions that focus on the specific topics you need the most help with. For example, if you're struggling with the SAT's Math section, then your tutoring sessions can focus more on that and less on something that you may already feel confident in like the Reading section. This creates a personalized learning experience that offers benefits which are hard to match through other test preparation avenues.
How can you get started?
Do you think that you would benefit from one of these Miami SAT prep options? If so, then the best way to get started with the option of your choice is by getting in touch with Varsity Tutors directly. We can help you find the right learning plan for your unique needs and then can get you started with it quickly. We'd love to help you get more out of your study sessions and feel more confident on the day of your upcoming SAT exam.

As an experienced tutor, I am confident in my ability to help students improve their understanding of literature, their writing, and their standardized test scores.... My teaching philosophy focuses on the importance of adopting multiple teaching strategies. An innovative, flexible approach allows me to help a wide variety of students.... In a typical first session, I talk with a student to evaluate her goals, her areas of concern, and her personal strengths.... My students become independent learners because I help guide them on strategies for helping themselves. I never do the work for my students. Instead, I guide them through their work in order to teach them how to complete future work on their own.
