Whether you're looking to advance towards your graduate studies at Vanderbilt University or Tennessee State University, Varsity Tutors can set you up with a Nashville GRE course for all of your preparation. The Graduate Records Examinations, or GRE, is used worldwide and at thousands of colleges and universities. Its analytical and reasoning sections help admissions departments gauge your skills in important academic areas. Even if you've excelled in your subjects and major thus far, it's essential to prepare for this key stepping stone, as the GRE is a notably challenging test.

Fortunately, a Nashville GRE prep course means you don't have to study alone. It allows you to collaborate with others as you reach for your test score goals. You can learn a great deal about how to prepare for and take the exam with insightful tips and beneficial practice. The GRE course is completely online. It can therefore be accessed from wherever you are comfortable learning and engaging with your instructor and peers. There's a lot that can be covered, so let's get started with the concepts you'll likely encounter.

What GRE Subjects Can a Nashville GRE Course Help Me With?

The GRE is a 3-hour, 45-minute exam with three main sections: Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning, and Quantitative Reasoning. It tests your writing fluency, command of the English language, and math skills. Admissions personnel will look at your scores in each one of these sections. It's important to focus on improving on every concept as much as possible, which requires focus and determination, along with comprehensive exam prep.

Your writing abilities will be tested during the two-part Analytical Writing section. Each part allocates 30 minutes, for a total of one hour, to enable you to write an analysis of an issue and an analysis of an argument. Over each 30-minute period, you must assess the task and its directions, plan your response, and write a coherent, error-free discussion that articulates complex ideas. Your performance will also be used to assess how well you include supporting examples, reasons for your response, and your use of evidence to examine claims.

The passage-based reading section is multiple-choice. Over an hour, you must read paragraphs that may be one or several paragraphs long and answer related questions that evaluate your reading skills. You must do this for about 10 different passages, answering one to six questions each. This part isn't limited to analyzing text, reaching conclusions, and identifying a position's strengths and weaknesses. You must also be able to work with partial information. On this level, you will be required to choose the best answer for blank sections of text and pick the best word or phrase to complete a sentence.

Your understanding of basic math skills and math concepts is assessed in the Quantitative Reasoning section of the GRE, which gives you one hour and ten minutes to show what you've got. Here, you'll need to apply logical reasoning and problem-solving skills when answering multiple-choice questions that may have more than one answer, as well as quantitative comparison and numeric entry questions. The content covered includes arithmetic, algebra, data analysis, and geometry.

If you think the GRE demands a lot of time and energy in scored content, there is also one of two unscored portions to complete. This is the experimental section, which is not identified and simply embedded with other questions to or sometimes put into an identified Research section. This part is evident at the end of the exam, when included, and is optional.

What Are the Benefits of Studying with a Nashville GRE Class?

Varsity Tutors can set you up with test prep classes that focus on practicing key skills, such as writing an essay quickly or problem solving based on the different question formats on the exam. Each session is held in a collaborative online environment, enabled by a live virtual platform. Participating in a Nashville GRE class can provide a review of subjects and topics you haven't seen in a while, refreshing your mind, or focus on improving study and test-taking skills. How you prepare is just as important as what you prepare for. Therefore, working on your pacing and taking practice tests can help a great deal.

If you're concerned about answering all of the questions in time, your instructor can show you strategies for being more efficient. For example, they can offer practice interpreting the reading comprehension questions or searching for clues to help weed out incorrect answers. All the while, you can see, hear, and interact with the instructor and your peers who are participating. By learning in groups, you can focus on improving your knowledge of complex concepts, study and test-taking skills, and confidence.

When you feel like you are not grasping something, contact your instructor to request a one-on-one session. Qualified instructors, carefully chosen based on their experience and communication abilities, are willing to provide extra help to those who need it. If you're committed to the Nashville GRE course itself, you can sign up for two- and four-week courses based on your schedule. Flexibility means there's no excuse not to adequately prepare for the GRE.
