Math Tutoring review by Alonso in Richmond, VA
The first meeting with the student. He has a test coming up and he has a review sheet he has to complete before it. A lot of the topics were difficult to explain but the calculations are just a formula away. The difficulty comes from figuring out which formula to use. The topics were interest, compound interest, amortized loans and savings and a little bit of set theory at the end.

Continued the student's Calc III webwork in preparation for his upcoming exam. Tonight's session was a continuation of line and path integrals, including some important discussions about how to link the different forms (especially between arbitrary dx+dy, F*dr, and the fundamental theorem) and switch between them. Also reviewed why the distinction between potential and gradient is important, how to identify conservative fields, and introduced flux and divergence. The student related that he was the only one in his class able to explain a concept when prompted, thanks to our previous studies.

We went over more practice problems from a practice test to help her prepare for her final. She had a hard time working a lot of them on her own but after reviewing concepts, she did better. We talked about having her make flash cards to help her prep forger tests and remember concepts better. She said she's understanding everything in the chapter they're covering now. She said she would find out when the test is so we can be sure to prepare.
