How can a Mandarin Chinese tutor help you?

Mandarin Chinese is often referred to as a highly difficult language to learn, yet it has a simplistic appearance. The most challenging aspect for many is not the grammar, but the tone and written form of the language. As a tonal language, you need to express each sound in the correct intonation to articulate your point. As you learn the language, you could learn the four basic tones, as well as the neutral one, and how to distinguish between them in the writing system. Session Summaries by Mandarin Chinese Tutors

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Cameron in Spokane, WA
The student was able to memorize about 65% of the passage I asked him to work on. I encourage him to do more vocab review to increase his character retention. When I asked him to improvise his own story in Chinese about a student's schedule, he did fairly well.

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Zhan in Spokane, WA
Today we continued with where we left off on chapter 6, reviewed the big numbers and weather forecast, went through the worksheet together, and then we moved on to the next chapter. The next 2 chapters are based on the materials they've learned from our previous sessions, with only a few new vocab words and phrases. We studied the new vocab and the use of new phrases, went through the worksheet together, and analyzed the idioms and the poems. The homework is to review the vocab and new phrases, practice using them to create new sentences and participate in daily dialog.

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Scott in Spokane, WA
We first went over the student's presentation, which he would do in class the following day. He knew a lot more of it, which was great, but still had a couple of the hardest lines to memorize. We then continued to review some older material he covered in class early in the semester. We read through some dialogues, discussed grammar and conversed a little. At the end we worked on a project the student has coming up.

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Hua in Spokane, WA
We reviewed everything we have learned quickly to refresh the memory. We went through a set of flash cards. We learned all related vocabulary and usage. I encouraged them to use Chinese as much as possible during class. I corrected their homework sheets about writing characters writing I gave them before the holidays. I pointed out the ones that are easy to confuse with other characters that look very similar. I gave them homework sheets about character writing. I encouraged them to practice more writing characters on their own time. We wrote a short paragraph about self introduction in Chinese, and we reviewed numbers up to 1000. We made conversations based on the photos I took during my vacation.

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Kelly in Spokane, WA
We went over the student's homework assignment, which included several key grammar sections. We touched on every section. The student should remember to focus on the grammar patterns. There is a pattern, and once you know it, knowing all the characters in the sentence is not as important. You can still get the right answer.

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Flora in Spokane, WA
Today's lesson was a combination review of previous vocabulary. The conversation is a smoother than last week, and the student is showing improvement. Additional vocabulary was given for the next two weeks in relation to the home and colors. Homework consists of active participation of the vocabulary through posting tags to related objects in the home.
