Omaha Mandarin Chinese Tutoring FAQ

If you are seeking the help of a skilled Omaha Chinese tutor, contact Varsity Tutors today. We can help you connect with a professional for either you or your student. Omaha Chinese tutoring is great for beginners and advanced Chinese speaking people alike. Whether your student is just beginning in an Intro to Chinese course, or you want to learn the language to communicate with overseas clients, this is an effective way to get help reaching for your language goals.

How can an Omaha Chinese tutor near me help with fluency?

The Chinese language is considered to be one of the most challenging languages to learn because it has little in common with the English language. It doesn't matter if your student is taking Chinese for the first time in high school and needs some assistance. Or maybe you are traveling to China and wish to be able to communicate your needs to locals along the way. Whatever your reasons and goals, an Omaha Chinese tutor can be there to guide you through each step of learning the language.

The expertise that Omaha Chinese tutors possess can be used to teach you the most important Chinese language concepts. These professionals can help you increase your vocabulary and understanding of the four tones in Mandarin Chinese. From learning pronunciation to pinyin, the topics you struggle with the most will be the highest priority when you sign up for Omaha Chinese tutoring. Because your sessions are so personalized, you can become more proficient in the language and reach for your Chinese language goals with confidence.

One great thing about Omaha Chinese tutors is that they will know many different ways of teaching the Chinese language, and they can determine which techniques you respond to the best. For instance, if you are an auditory learner, your instructor can use short lectures, videos, and Q&A sessions to help you build your Chinese skills effectively. If your student is a hands-on learner, their instructor may create worksheets to help them practice writing and reading Chinese symbols. Completing these worksheets can help you or your student make noticeable progress towards reaching for Chinese speaking goals.

You need to spend an ample amount of time practicing a new language to learn it. This is why your instructor may use simulated immersion. This technique is one of the most effective ways to learn a language quickly, by speaking and writing in the language for the majority of each session and encouraging you to do the same. This can help you improve your knowledge of certain grammar rules and pronunciation. With simulated immersion, you can become more confident in holding conversations with other peers or your instructor in Chinese.

Now that I have learned some benefits, how do I fit these sessions with Omaha Chinese tutors into my busy schedule?

Everyone has things in their schedule that cannot be rescheduled, such as work, school, or important doctors appointments. One great benefit of tutoring is its flexibility. You can fill us in as to your schedule and your learning needs. From there, we can find someone who has the skill set and scheduling flexibility that works for you. This flexibility makes it easier for you or your student to get the necessary help learning Chinese while also meeting your outside obligations. There are instructors who have hours available at many different times and on many different days, including weeknights and weekends, so you aren't confined to business hours.

Another thing that makes this type of learning flexible is that it is offered both in-person and online. Online sessions are held through the Live Learning Platform, where you meet with your instructor face-to-face using a webcam. This platform also allows you to use a digital whiteboard with your instructor to solve problems and practice writing symbols together. You can also play back previous sessions to review key concepts, such as writing and pronunciation. Online learning gives you or your student the chance to improve your Chinese skills without ever leaving home.

However, if you do prefer a traditional in-person meeting, we can find a professional in your city who would be happy to help. You can meet with your private mentor anywhere that you are comfortable, including your home, Omaha Public Library-Benson Branch, or your favorite coffee shop.

If you are looking for additional help with your Chinese language skills, Varsity Tutors also offers live Chinese language courses. These live courses are held in a virtual classroom with a professional instructor and peers that have similar goals and who want to build their fluency and practice the language as much as you do. There are many course sections offered, and they run concurrently so that you can find the course that best matches your needs.

Now that I know the benefits, how do I begin working with an Omaha Chinese tutor near me?

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Cameron in Omaha, NE
We began with two idiom cartoons. After that we reviewed vocabulary for numbers and dates. The student still seems on the fence about Chinese, but hopefully we can find a way to get him to do more work that builds up his vocabulary and interest. For next time, I asked that he write a series of practice sentences every day. I also asked that he review chapters 5 and 6.

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Hua in Omaha, NE
I gave the students each a surprise test on vocabulary on animals or adjectives that have opposite meanings (antonyms). I corrected the words they didn't get correct. With Student 1, we learned Unit 4.4 in the book ''Huanying.'' With Student 2, we learned Unit 2.3 to 2.4 in the book. We also watched a video (an Esop fable) on YouTube in Chinese. I asked her some questions regarding the video. We then went through part of a set of flashcards. We learned all related vocabulary and usage. I encouraged them to use Chinese as much as possible during class. I corrected their homework sheets about writing characters I gave them last week. I pointed out the ones that are easy to confuse with other characters that look very similar. I gave them homework sheets about character writing. I encourage them to practice more writing characters on their own time.

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Zhan in Omaha, NE
Tonight, we continued our preparation for the student's exam; the focus was on English and test prep techniques. We went over several types of questions, including "true or false," "fill in the blanks," "multiple choice," and "cross the lines." I gave him specific tools on what to answer first, how to use exclusion in the most efficient way, how to save time, and how to use the backup method. Then, we went through his grammar book. We went over all the rules of singulars and plurals. Then, we analyzed the sentence structure, reviewing all the names and terms he needed to memorize. The student has showed improvement tonight not only by initiating questions by himself but also finding what he needed to work on the most and working to improve that shortcoming.

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Scott in Omaha, NE
The main focus of this session was to practice for the student's upcoming exam in school and to make a study plan for the following week. I went over vocabulary and grammar structures that would be on his exam, and quizzed him on them. I also told him to do the first two chapters in his character workbook for next session, and review the grammar in the first two lessons. I will quiz him on this next time.

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Li in Omaha, NE
I taught the student part of pinyin. He is struggling with the pronunciation of some initial consonants of syllables, and simple or compound vowel of syllables. He took the notes very seriously and his attitude is very earnest. The first session is a warm up session since he stopped learning Mandarin for one and a half years. We just started the basic pinyin session. I left his homework that I hope he will review and practice all the pronunciation again, and I will check if he reached the level at next session.
