If you are searching for reliable Madison SSAT prep for your student, you can start by reaching out to Varsity Tutors. Varsity Tutors can help you enroll your student in a course or get them started with private educational mentoring. There is a new course starting every week, so you won't need to wait long.
The SSAT (Secondary School Admissions Test) is an important exam for students who are applying to private schools or independent schools. Many private schools use a student's scores on the SSAT as a way to assess whether or not the student would make a good fit for the school. Admission boards want to see that the student can keep up with the pace of the studies at the school.
What is included on the Secondary School Admissions Test?
The Secondary School Admissions Test has three different levels. These levels are designed for students entering different grades. Students going into the fourth or fifth grades will be administered the Elementary Level of the SSAT, students going into the sixth to eighth grades will be administered the Middle Level of the SSAT, and students going into the ninth to 11th grades will be administered the Upper Level of the SSAT.
The SSAT will have time limits for each of its sections. Total testing time will be one hour and 50 minutes for the Elementary Level and two hours and 50 minutes for both the Middle Level and the Upper Level. There will be a total of 89 questions on the Elementary Level and 167 questions on both the Middle Level and the Upper Level.
There will be a few sections on the SSAT: Verbal, Reading, and Quantitative. There will also be a Writing sample. The Middle Level and the Upper Level of the SSAT will have two Quantitative sections. There will also be an Experimental section, but it will not be scored.
The outline of the test is as follows: on the Elementary Level of the SSAT, the Quantitative section will come first. Students will have half an hour to answer 30 questions. The Verbal section will come next, and students will have 30 minutes to complete 28 questions. Next will be the Writing Sample, for which students will have 15 minutes to write a short essay. Finally, the Experimental section will be at the end. It will have 15-17 unscored questions. Students will have a quarter of an hour to answer them.
The Middle Level and the Upper Level of the SSAT both have the same outline. The Writing sample will come first. Students will have 25 minutes to complete an essay. The first Quantitative section will come next, and students will have half an hour to complete 25 questions. The Reading section will be next, and students will have 40 minutes to complete 40 questions. Next will be the Verbal section. There will be 60 questions, and students will have half an hour to complete them. The second Quantitative section will come next, and students will again have half an hour to complete 25 questions. Finally, the Experimental section will be last. Students will have a quarter of an hour to complete 16 unscored questions.
The Writing sample will not be scored. However, a copy of the student's essay will be sent to the schools the student is applying to. The admission boards at the schools will then be able to assess the student's writing skills and see whether they match up to the standard they want to see for that student's particular grade level.
What kind of Madison SSAT prep is best for my student?
There are a number of ways to prepare your student for the SSAT. One of the easiest ways to do so is to simply enroll them in a comprehensive Madison SSAT prep course. These courses take place over the internet, so there will be no need to endure a commute in order to take them. You can choose between enrolling in a two-week course and enrolling in a longer, four-week course. It all depends on your student's schedule and how much preparation they will need in order to be ready for the Secondary School Admissions Test.
One of the benefits of taking a Madison SSAT prep class is that students can study in a fun environment. The instructor of the class can spark lively discussions among the students. This can make the learning process enjoyable and fun, which can motivate your student to excel in their studies. A class instructor can give the class instant feedback when a student makes a mistake. Your student can also get private time with the instructor to ask some questions about the subject matter or the test itself.
Another option is signing your student up for study sessions with a private Madison SSAT tutor. A private instructor can give your student 100 percent of their time, attention, focus, and resources. A class instructor, on the other hand, has to focus on and take care of the needs of all the students in the class.
A private mentor can also help your student develop their test-taking skills. For example, they can give your student practice tests so that your student gets used to answering questions under the pressure of time limits.
A third option is doing both. Your student can get private mentoring but enroll in a course as well. This way, they will get the benefits of both options.
How can I go about getting my student started with Madison SSAT prep?
If you want to get professional Madison SSAT preparation for your student, get in touch with Varsity Tutors as soon as possible. There is a new class starting every week, so there's no need to delay. We can also connect you with a private educational mentor who can study with your student one-on-one and give them individualized attention. Regardless of how ready your student is for the SSAT, they can benefit greatly by either taking a class, getting private instruction, or doing both.

I find joy in helping students meet their educational needs and helping them succeed wherever their learning takes them. As Albert Einstein indicated, "Education is not the learning of facts but the training of the mind to think." To think about your thinking is the key to education and represents my goal as a tutor. You see, critical-thinking is the pathway to engaged learning.

Everyone learns and retains information differently and I strive to find out how each of my students learns the best and implement that into my sessions. At the end of the day my goal is to make learning fun and for my students to learn and feel good about themselves. I tutor biology, anatomy, general science, microbiology, biochemistry, math and reading.... My teaching philosophy is to find the learning method that works best for my student and then use that to help them learn the material. I also try to make learning fun and relate topics to things that my students are interested in.

If you choose me to be your tutor then you will definitely ace your test. I'm a great math tutor because I understand the material thoroughly, am patient, and know how to explain things. I attended Stuyvesant High School and the University of Chicago; I am currently studying Data Science with Johns Hopkins.... If you don't get it then I'm explaining it wrong.... Before the first session, I'd have them do a bunch of practice problems on the subject they want to be tutored in, and I'd look over their answers to see what they need help with. I'd also ask them which problems they guessed on or weren't totally sure of. We could start from there.
