If you are a serious medical student looking for professional Las Vegas MCAT prep, Varsity Tutors can provide you with what you need. There are new courses starting every week for students who want to do well on the MCAT. In addition, private mentoring is available. The Medical College Admission Test is required by almost all medical schools in the United States, including medical schools around Nevada such as the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Medicine.

The MCAT is a standardized exam that is administered in a controlled environment on computers. There will be four sections. Each section will have a score of in between 118-132. These scores will be added up to create a final, fifth score. The scores you get on your MCAT can affect whether or not you are accepted by the admission board of the school you are applying to.

What should I know about the Medical College Admission Test?

As mentioned, there are four sections, and they will be reviewed below. Each section will have a time limit imposed on them. Altogether, you will have six hours and 15 minutes for the entire test, but you will spend around 7 and a half hours at the testing center.

The first section is Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems. This section will focus on basic biology as well as the chemical and physical principles behind it. For example, you may be asked questions that will see how well you understand the relationship between biology, such as the human body and its tissues and organs, and the laws of physics, particularly as to how those laws relate to the mechanical and chemical functions of the human body. There will be 95 minutes to complete 59 questions, which will mostly be based on 10 passages.

The next section will be Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills. Here, you will be tested on matters such as your ability to understand passages as well as your verbal reasoning and analytical skills. You will be presented with different passages, and you will be expected to understand the different components of the passages and how they tie together to create a bigger picture. You will be tested on your ability to extrapolate ideas from the text to different contexts that may not have been present in the original text. For this section, you will have an hour and a half to complete 53 questions.

The third section is Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems. You will be expected to understand living organisms for this portion of the MCAT. For example, one thing you will be expected to understand is how different cells and organs within an organism work together to accomplish different processes, such as reproducing. You will also be asked questions that assess if you understand how those same cells and organs work independently. For this section, you will have 95 minutes to complete 59 questions.

The next section is Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior. This section will touch on social issues, psychological issues, and mental health. Concepts that will be touched upon include how human behavior can affect physical health, how mental health issues and general well-being can be affected by society and culture, human behavior and behavioral changes, and how people think about themselves and about others. For this section, you will have 95 minutes to complete 59 questions.

What kind of Las Vegas MCAT prep will be available to me?

There are two kinds of MCAT preparation that we offer. The first is one that many students opt for, as it allows them to get a comprehensive review of all of the information that they will need to know for all four sections of the MCAT. This is enrolling in a Las Vegas MCAT prep course. Some students enroll in a two-week course, while others want a bit more preparation and opt for a four-week course. Regardless, doing this has many benefits.

One of the main benefits of enrolling in a Las Vegas MCAT prep class is that you can study together with other medical students who are also trying to do their best to prepare effectively. These classes are all administered over the internet, so you will not have to leave your home or your school in order to attend sessions. Instead, you can meet with your class and instructor online for real-time learning. You can join in on live discussions that go in-depth on the topics covered in the MCAT as well as strategies to help you do your best on exam day.

The other option is to study alongside a private Las Vegas MCAT tutor. With private mentoring, you can study at your own schedule. You can schedule as many or as few mentoring sessions as you need so that you feel comfortable and ready as the day of the test approaches. A private mentor can even come to you, so you will not have to spend any time commuting.

Another benefit of private educational mentoring is that your mentor can guide you in your MCAT preparation. For example, your instructor may see that you need to place a larger focus on a certain section of the test. Some students may not need to prepare as much for the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills section as they need to prepare for the Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems section. Since every student is different, a tutor can adapt their approach to help each student they work with learn in a way that accommodates their predominant learning style.
