If you are in search of detailed, expert Indianapolis GMAT preparation assistance, Varsity Tutors is here to offer a number of options that could be just what you are looking for. When you go through the process of applying for MBA programs, locally or around the country, you will likely have to take the Graduate Management Admission Test, or GMAT. Your score on this exam can be one of the most important factors that admissions offices take into account when deciding whether or not they will accept you into their program. Therefore, performing well on the GMAT can potentially be one of the most crucial steps in giving yourself the best chance to get the business school of your choosing. The exam is designed to indicate whether you will be able to perform well in future business classes, so achieving a high score shows schools that you are ready for their courses.
The test is no easy task, however. It will likely be one of your greatest challenges when attempting to get into institutions such as the University of Indianapolis or the Butler University - College of Business Administration. No matter if you are currently an undergraduate student or a working professional looking to get some extra help in your test preparation, Varsity Tutors can connect you with course offerings as well as private instructors who can help you reach for your goals on test day. Whatever your learning style is and whatever type of assistance you are seeking, we can connect you with resources that suit your individual needs.
What areas are covered by Indianapolis GMAT prep?
The exam is made up of four distinct sections. There are sections covering Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Verbal Reasoning, as well as an Analytical Writing Assessment. Over the course of three and a half hours, you will complete all four of these sections, each containing different question types that cover a variety of subject areas. When taking the exam, you are able to choose one of three configurations of the order in which you complete the sections, so not all participants experience the exam in the same way.
The Integrated Reasoning section consists of 12 questions over the course of 30 minutes. The main focus of this section is the ability to evaluate data from multiple sources at once and combining them to solve complex problems. You will be presented with data in various forms, such as tables, graphics, and text and tasked with answering questions regarding that data. In order to perform well, you will have to be able to prioritize the different information that is given to you and identify the relationships between them. This section receives a score ranging from 1 to 8.
Quantitative Reasoning asks you to complete 31 multiple-choice questions over a time period of 62 minutes. Each of these questions falls into either the category of problem solving or data sufficiency. You are tested on your abilities to use analytical reasoning to solve problems, as well as your ability to identify whether a problem provides enough data to reach a conclusive answer. This section, as well as the Verbal Reasoning section, is scored on a scale from 0 to 60.
Verbal Reasoning is similar in format to Quantitative Reasoning. You have 65 minutes to finish 36 multiple-choice questions. For each question, you will be presented with a written passage. You will be asked to answer questions regarding reading comprehension, sentence correction, and critical reasoning. Sometimes you must make grammatical and structural fixes. Sometimes you must analyze arguments and logical relationships.
When you take the Analytical Writing Assessment, you will have 30 minutes to compose a single essay that is based on a provided argument. You must read an evaluate the argument that you are presented with and then write a response with properly organized and developed ideas. This section is computer-based and your response is evaluated by both a computer system and human educators. You are graded on structural features and the syntax of your composition, as well as the organization and expression of your ideas. This section receives a score from 0 to 6.
All of these topics and subtopics can be covered during your GMAT prep. Oftentimes, instructors can also teach you test-taking tips and strategies that can increase your confidence with the format and rules of the GMAT.
What are the different approaches to Indianapolis GMAT prep, and what are the benefits to each one?
There are two main types of Indianapolis GMAT prep: online courses and private instruction. Each has distinct benefits, and you can also combine them to get the best of both worlds if you so choose.
When you sign up for an Indianapolis GMAT prep course, you will take part in classroom learning with a number of other students. This approach is similar to traditional school learning environments except for the fact that your course is conducted entirely online. Your instructor, classmates, and you will meet in a virtual setting to collaborate and share ideas regarding the exam material and how best to prepare. This allows you to experience a number of different perspectives.
Your Indianapolis GMAT prep class also gives you the chance to spend some individual time with the instructor. This allows you to receive some personalized assistance.
If the one-on-one learning environment is what you prefer, you might be better off signing up for private instruction with an Indianapolis GMAT tutor. This approach lets you take part in a lesson plan and study sessions that are tailored specifically to your personal strengths and weaknesses. You can meet with your tutor online or in person to express your particular concerns regarding the material and get immediate feedback on your progress. A private instructor can focus your time and effort on the areas that need the most improvement, and you won't be required to work at the same pace as a class of other students.
How do I get started with Indianapolis GMAT prep?

...does not promote learning; low expectations; and unfortunately, a relatively low standard of professionalism expected of classroom teachers. Although I have seen both sides of this issue as a classroom teacher myself, and there are definitely some brilliant and dedicated classroom teachers out there, this last problem is a major reason why tutoring can be so helpful. During my tutorials, I have heard countless kids say "I didn't get that at all when Mr X...

I graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC in 2008, the oldest English speaking acting conservatory in the world. I graduated Summa from University of St Thomas with a BA in English, and just wrapped up a MS in Data Science from Northwestern. I'm a huge Red Sox fan and love watching detective shows when I have free time.... Positivity. Always. I believe that if a student is given positive tools and is allowed to understand the material rather than be lectured at, they're more likely to do well in the future.
