Session Summaries by French Tutors

French Tutoring review by Carolyn in San Antonio, TX
Today we went over the vocabulary in Chapter 4. Then we went over reflexive verbs, and I looked at the student's homework writing with reflexive verbs. Some of the verbs were correct, but many of them he left in the infinitive. He is going to fix the mistakes, and then write a new piece for homework. He is going to write a detailed itinerary of a vacation trip with friends. He will be able to use prepositions and directionals when describing the places that he wants to visit. I am going to quiz him on his verbs next time. We ended with a detailed verbal interview activity from the textbook asking and answering questions using the vocabulary and verb phrases.

French Tutoring review by Chantal in San Antonio, TX
The student has a great understanding of the French language. His time abroad and his exposure to the French language have given him an edge in terms of pronunciation, grammar, and verbal abilities. We talked about his background, his experiences abroad and his expectations for beginning in a new school in the States. He also read aloud from a French art book. The entire session was conducted in French.

French Tutoring review by Alice in San Antonio, TX
Our first meeting went well. The student took French last year. I started with short introduction sentences; the student understood the words within each sentence. I found out in the middle of the session that he was expecting more of a vocabulary approach based on flashcards and this is indeed what we will do next time. We will focus on a theme, learn the words and create sentences around these words. The student's accent is very good and he is motivated.
