Identifying Sequence of Events Using Dr. Seuss' Bartholomew and the Oobleck
Students use graphic organizers and comic strips to practice sequencing. In a fun activity, small groups follow directions to make oobleck. Includes printable handouts.
Investigating Matter, Solid or Liquid: Bartholomew and the Oobleck
Students will be using Oobleck to observe the characteristics of solids and liquids. The students will make predictions and will draw conclusions on whether Oobleck is a solid or liquid by using focus observations and conducting focus explorations. They will raise questions, clarify questions and make conclusions about Oobleck. Designed as a postreading activity for second grade.

Students review the book and then make "Oobleck" in small groups. They develop science skills in processing information, making inferences, and describing solids and/or liquids. The unit closes with a writing task.
