My name is Mr. Luke Gibson. I am a middle school teacher with 25 years of experience. I take pride in helping students improve their skills with reading and writing. If your child is struggling in this area, I believe I can provide creative learning in a postive online environment. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and coaching middle school basketball.

With a background in school counseling, I bring a student-centered, holistic approach to tutoring that goes beyond academics. My professional experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of how students learn, what motivates them, and the challenges they may face both inside and outside the classroom. I specialize in building strong, supportive relationships that help students feel confident, capable, and understood. I have extensive experience working with diverse learners, including students with varying academic needs, learning differences, and social-emotional challenges. This allows me to tailor each session to the individualwhether that means breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps, reinforcing foundational skills, or helping students develop effective study habits and organizational strategies.
I have had many Math professors throughout undergrad and graduate school and I have found that, although they all know what they are talking about and are all very intelligent, what makes a math teacher great is understanding that not everyone understands things the same way he or she does. Throughout my years tutoring all levels of mathematics, I have developed the ability to readily explore several different viewpoints and methods to help students fully grasp the subject matter. I can present the material in many different ways until we find an approach that works and makes the material easy to understand. Nothing gives me a greater thrill than the look of relief on a student's face when they actually start to "get it" and realize that it is not as difficult as was previously believed.I have a Master of Science degree in Math, over three years' experience as an actuary, and am a member of MENSA. I am highly committed to students' performances and to improve their comprehension of all areas of Mathematics.
I recently graduated from NYU's Stern School of Business and had a great time helping prospective students on the GMAT. I scored extremely high through self-guided study and found I learned fun ways to teach some of the tougher concepts. I believe in making the session fun and student-driven - but also quickly finding any underlining problems with comprehension and addressing them.
I come from a family of teachers and have always felt a need to educate others. I have a strong background in public speaking, reading, and writing, as well as mathematics and music and look forward to working with students over the summer to help further their educational needs.I am certified in special education and music education, and I have my masters degree in special education and autism studies. I play trombone, trumpet, euphonnium, and piano. I attended West Chester University for both my bachelors and masters degree. I look forward to working with you!
Hi! I'm Joyce, an MBA graduate from Columbia Business School with a background in business, strategy, and entrepreneurship. I am passionate about helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals through personalized instruction. My teaching approach focuses on breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps while adapting to each student's learning style. Whether you're looking to strengthen foundational skills, prepare for exams, or tackle challenging coursework, I strive to create a supportive environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and long-term success.
I am a retired math teacher who taught in the public school system for 38 years. I earned my Bachelors degree from Susquehanna University in mathematics and I earned my Masters Degree in education from West Chester University. My goal is to develop confidence in the students who struggle with mathematics and teach them strategies on how to approach a problem which they do not understand. I also want to empower my students with a variety of approaches on how to solve a problem. Mathematics has many rules which students need to know and be able to apply. Students need to learn the concepts because every problem is different.
I believe that, as a teacher, the greatest gift I can pass on to my students is to make them believe in themselves. Although my students carry much more emotional and financial hardship than children in traditional schools, it is rare that they lack the innate ability to succeed. They simply have had a rough life and they have forgotten that they have worth and that they matter. I try to instill that into them everyday. I just happen to be a math teacher, a discipline that I have come to love. I try to show that enthusiasm so that they too can find their path, whatever that may be. My interests are fitness (our bodies are the only ones we will ever get so let's take good care of them) and animal husbandry (we share the earth, we don't own it).
Hi,West Chester UniversityB.A. Language & Cultures; SpanishMontgomery County Community CollegeA.A. Liberal Studies
I graduated from West Chester University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in Integrative Biology. During my undergraduate career, I had the opportunity to tutor for the campus Learning Assistance and Resource Center as an Anatomy and Physiology and Organic Chemistry tutor for over two years. As a tutor, I supplemented professor lecture instruction with additional material support in small group sessions. I mentored and demonstrated effective active learning and efficient studying techniques supporting the study of the human body and various organic reactions. Over the course of my time tutoring at West Chester, I was able to progress through a series of College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certification levels, ultimately achieving Master Tutor Level III status. These tutoring certification courses demanded demonstration of proficiency and understanding in the following areas:-Self-regulated learning, brain learning, and/or memory-How to tutor/deal with target populations-The role of learning centers in higher education-Structuring the learning experience-Training and supervising other tutors-Group management skillsUpon graduating, I worked as a Neurodiagnostic Technologist at Geisinger Medical Center. In this role, I held primary responsibility for observation of patients admitted to the epilepsy monitoring unit through continuous EEG recording and audio/video monitoring. Specifically, I preserved the integrity of both scalp and intracranial EEG electrodes by conducting bi-hourly impedance inspections and performing appropriate electrode fixing or disconnects. I am also an incoming osteopathic medical student and will be attending the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine beginning in the fall of 2020.Personally, I find that an understanding of science, particularly of the biological disciplines, offers a beautiful lens through which we can all view the world. This can help us appreciate the miracles of life around us each and every day. I derive great personal satisfaction in assisting others with their own personal scientific understanding of the world. It is my pleasure to facilitate this worldly understanding in the individuals that I tutor, because an enhanced understanding of the biological sciences will improve critical thinking and abstract application to a multitude of modern day problems to help make the earth a better place for us all. To this extent, I strive to help each client achieve their unique and individual goals by carefully listening to how they learn, what they need most from a tutor, and what type of actionable plan should be designed to offer improvement of content comprehension, study technique, abstract application, and/or internal motivation. I will do everything I can to improve your progress towards your goals related to the various scientific domains within the natural life sciences, particularly related to the specific subjects I tutor:-Genetics-Biochemistry-Anatomy and Physiology-General BiologyI look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your goals with these courses and your dreams with science.
My ability to relate the material to the students makes me a great tutor. I believe that scaffolding is essential in the learning process for students of all levels and ability. This is an invaluable technique I used during my time spent student and substitute teaching.

I am currently a student at West Chester University studying to be a high school English teacher. Deciding on a major was difficult for me because I enjoy many different subjects. The one thing that remained though was my desire to become a teacher. Education is my passion.Every student is unique and deserves individualized attention. No two students will learn exactly the same way, so instruction needs to be differentiated. This is easier to accomplish when only one student needs to be accommodated.Since each student I work with learns in different ways, I first assess their learning style to determine their strengths and weaknesses. Thereafter, the material that needs to be taught will be altered to fit with the student's learning style to ensure academic success.I also believe that the best thing a teacher/tutor can do for her students is to care about them. Students excel when they know that the teacher really believes in them and encourages them. I will personally care about the academic well-being of every student and make sure I do my best so each student can do his best.

This program prepares its graduates to enter the research sector of the pharmaceutical industry. When choosing a tutor, it is important that you are able to not only adapt to their learning style but connect with them on an interpersonal level. My personality is typically outgoing and reliable. In other words, I have a tendency to always be prepared and tackle every problem from multiple angles. My teaching style is dynamic which allows students to always stay interacted. When teaching a certain topic, I will explain some background about the subject and then dive deeper. Every so often I will allow the student to demonstrate what they have learned, and then revisit previous points to create a well rounded experience. I am a very energetic individual with a passion for successful education since, after all, tutors and all educators worldwide are facilitating a brighter future! With that said, I hope to hear from you bright minded individuals so we can explore the realms of science and mathematics together!
I fully believe that building strong relationships with my students and their families is what leads to success. I have worked in the behavior field for 20 years and have taught emotional support for 15 years. The most important thing to me is that my students feel valued and loved when they come to school. Personally, I find that they work harder and put effort in when they feel respected and have someone to listen to them.
Hello! My name is Seana Henry. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Mathematics from West Chester University. I have found most of my passion for teaching through homeschooling my two children. I am able to teach a wide variety of subjects tailored to their interests and I always end up learning something new along the way as well! I am a big believer in everyone learning at their own pace and in ways that suit their learning styles. I struggled with reading as a child (thanks to my dyslexia and ADD) and was met with immense pressure with little support in overcoming that struggle. What I have learned through teaching my child, who has the same struggles, is that those things can be overcome with the right support! It would be an absolute privilege to continue to pay forward all that I have learned and help other children learn in ways that are both enjoyable and beneficial to their academic development/journey! Outside of teaching, I spend a lot of time hiking, painting, drawing, wood burning, listening to/playing music, baking/cooking and anything else that brings myself and my family joy. I would love the chance to help your child gain the confidence and skills to succeed in schooland maybe help them to fall in love with learning along the way!

My favorite subjects in school were always Spanish and History, and I am incredibly happy and excited to be able to teach both of those subjects now as a Varsity Tutor. I believe that the goal of education is to give students life long learning skills and most importantly teaching students to be critical thinkers. When I am not teaching you will find me playing sports, usually tennis or ice hockey, or playing guitar. Also, in the winter time I try to make it to the mountains to snowboard as often as I can.

Due to my personality of being serious and logical, having one concrete answer helps motivate me to work a problem through to completion. Also, I can be a bit silly and expressive and the ability to have many potential correct great answers allows more freedom to use interesting words to convey a meaning.Outside of teaching and tutoring, I have held another full time job for the past three years, as well as becoming a small business owner. I do not have a plethora of free time, however when I do have a clear agenda, my hobbies include cuddling my cats, watching movies, going to concerts, traveling, taking photographs and sleeping. I take my work very seriously and dedicate my time to achieving goals, but I also have a goofy fun side, that I hope will make me a perfect fit as a tutor for your student!

Currently, I am a first year student at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, working towards my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Although unofficial, I will most likely continue on to minor in English/Literature or Art History. My skills vary widely in terms of tutoring subjects. I am personally equipped to teach elementary school through college level courses; however, as I have a passion for literature and the arts, I specialize and do best in tutoring English, Writing, and Literature Analysis & Critique. I love to equip my students with the tools they need to succeed in and out of the classroom - there is a difference between tutoring for the test, and tutoring to expand the way a person thinks, perceives, and analyzes the world. Outside of teaching, though, I love to write and read for pleasure, as well as learn about art and art history. I also play the french horn and the trumpet!
My name is Isma Zarin. I have background molecular biology. I believe every child has the power to be successful and accomplish as long as they are led in the right direction. As a woman in science field, I bring in the experience of working in few of the most prestigious biotechnology companies. I have a Master's of Science in Natural Resource Management and Environnental Interpretation from Colorado State University. An undergraduate in Communications (Speech, English and Theater) from West Chester University. I taught high school and began my own businesses after graduating college. I serve on non-profits and also teach through them. I traveled extensively, learning a great deal from teachers and elders of many cultures around the world. I always have had a burning desire to share what I have learned with others through coaching and teaching. This has allowed me to learn a great deal from my students as well. I have taught all age levels from pre-school to seniors and taught at both the high school and university levels. I pursued advanced degrees at Colorado State University, ran a large non-profit for the University and taught classes in many subjects in natural resources, creative writing, public speaking and organizational start ups and operations. I earned Masters of Science in Environmental Interpretation and Natural Resource Management from CSU and was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award for the University in experiential teaching. I was an advisor for approximately 50 students each year while with the University.I am also a life coach and have worked with people in that way as well.Twelve years ago I founded a non-profit with a group of people. Our goal was to teach about nature, sustainable living and the wisdom of past cultures. It was also a platform from which I could offer students help in creative writing, public speaking and personal growth courses. I am a public speaker at many conferences and in the classroom and I have had two books published. A couple of years ago I created the White Otter Academy to bring "Wisdom from the past magically stirred with knowledge from the present as a catalyst to transform your future."I coined the phrase "energetic alchemy" to define how I often teach. I take the 'iron' nuggets of knowledge I have acquired, add my own understandings, mix them together magically and .. often - gold emerges thanks to my teachers. I believe true growth occurs from the acquisition of both formal and informal education. With that said, I require a large dose of fun in any teaching or tutoring I do. I like to also acknowledge all the mistakes I have made along the way and admit what a wonderful teaching resource these are. Through some of the above venues I have brought teaching to groups. With Varsity Tutors I am able to work one on one with people - my favorite mode.
